Ok so i have to admit

This video acctually made me run! (literally) out and buy this SSD. I was reading reviews on this SSD all day but was a bit confused about the real world preformance. This (If legit) is how i think reviews need to be done, side by side program loading comparisons in dual boot configurations. I want to SEE the difference...I want to SEE what a few seconds looks like.

I posted to see what other people thought about it, i was torn between the Crucial M4, the Vertex 3 and the Vertex 4. But obviously the decision was clear.

Oh and by the way upgrading to an SSD for the first time is exciting biggrin.gif

Welcome! It's a whole new world...

When I got into SSD's, I was impressed on how everything was so 'instantaneous' and then started benchmarks and saw the performance 'drop' and start jumping all over the place...
I learned about TRIM and garbage collection as they progressed with newer firmware on my Vertex 1's... And then later on to see that the Vertex 3's speed actually go beyond the limit of my Marvel 9128 X58 Sata 6GB chipset...

With these newer drives, you don't have to worry about any of that and hope you got a newer chipset to take full advantage...
Enjoy!

My vertex 3 GT lasted 2 weeks.

Samsung or Intel rest is cheaper for a reason.

And that is why you shouldn't buy sandforce.

Ah yes i read your whole guide today, great work Sean thumb.gif

It seems as if the Vertex 4 is looking to be a winner, i know little about SSDs in general but I am a hardware enthusiast and i did read every single review. So heres what i know.

- It's cheaper then the Vertex 3
- It's not using Sandforce but OCZ's own firmware and controller (Apparently it's a rebranded and new Marvell controller running at higher clock speeds under the name Indilinx) Source
- Firmware updates in the future that should bring even more stellar preformance and since this is OCZ's own firmware possibly better support and stability too. thumb.gif

I guess the weeks will tell, meanwhile ill be using my Vertex 4 and playing the role of test pilot.

I was also thinking about getting the M4 but remember that the firmware is basically maxed out preformance wise, the work has already been done. This SSD has a fresh sheet and a future of optimization ahead of it (It's OCZ's flagship and the first using thier new controller)

This is what i pondered, buy old technology that has a proven track record or buy new technology that will mature...it was an easy choice, risky mabye but the reviews were enough for me. thumb.gif
