I dont even bother overclocking my cards as you will only see 6% performance gain max, usually. I am also running reference cooling.
I have never watched my temps in GPU-z to notice your phenomenon but I'll try it out and see what I get.

Thanks I'd appreciate that. thumb.gif

What does your Temp # 2 read in GPU-z compared to other temps (under load)?

TEMP1= 62 C
TEMP2=66.5 C
TEMP3= 67 C

These are within 10 minutes of MSI Kombuster so they will get a bit higher but not by much.

And its no problem to use AS5 for your GPU, you do have to make sure you dont put any on the PCB, since its electrical conductive.

Cool. Thanks man. I think it is evident that i need to re-seat the heat sink. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if that fixes it biggrin.gif

They are indeed all on die temperatures, a large delta between temps >8°c normally indicates a bad seat.

Ok i have done the deed. This has been the scariest thing i've done to my pc. First time i applied the TIM i straight away took it apart again to see how the spread was looking. I'm glad i did that because i used way too much.

After cleaning that mess up I put more TIM on and put the card back in my computer only i just remembered when i turned my computer back on that i hadn't remembered to plug the GPU fan back in so back to taking it apart again. I saw i had still used too much TIM, so i cleaned it up and applied less. I plugged it into my computer and turned it on only to hear a loud continuous beep. At this point I was terrified haha. But i was pleased to find out it was only because I hadn't plugged the 8 and 6 pin power connectors in. Phew rolleyes.gif

Anyway the results are good. The greatest difference I've see are now between temp 1 and 3 and it is only 8c difference. 1 and 2 are now usually about 2c apart.
Here are temps from a run in Heaven @ 950 core 1500 mem 1.23v.

# 1: 77.0
# 2: 77.0
# 3: 71.5

Although the temps are much closer together, I have since made a much more aggressive fan profile that had the fan up to 72% at those temps. So it is running hotter in general. Could this be because of the fresh TIM not set yet?

Well I think that it only influences temps for 2-3 degrees when the TIM has set. Since u have a reference card, they always have higher temps than custom cooled GPU's. And since the temps are much closer now, I think this is the final result. smile.gif
