Crashes.

Don't know where to actually put this, so it's going here. rolleyes.gif

Alright so a week or so ago I tried playing Mafia II which crashes righter after the first cut scene, thought nothing of it and tried playing again windowed.
happened again. So i tried Validating the cache and rebooting the system.
but to no avail. and for some reason after each crash it caused massive system instability. Chrome, steam and any other app I tried to use would crash.
So I deleted the game and have not re-installed it yet.

Then just a few moments ago I was playing GTA IV and the same thing happened.
the game "encountered an error" and closed/stopped responding.
also caused steam to crash along with it.

Wondering is this a hardware issue?
I did have my system over clocked.
3.8ghz on the CPU
2.2ghz on the NB
1.9ghz on the H...uh hyperlink
Memory was at 14xx mhz over the stock 1333 (looser timings as well)

when I rebooted I went back to
3.5ghz
2.2 ghz
2ghz
and 1666 on the ram.
Settings I'm 90% sure are stable

For the GPU I dropped from 900mhz down to 850 seeing as I was getting random crashes ONLY on dirt2
Memory is at the default 1100mhz.... but I was not getting a "graphics driver has stopped"

So, would this be more of a hardware "issue" or something to do with software....such as a corrupted file somewhere or a bad driver?

Thanks in advance & any help is much appreciated

A smart first step would be to make sure all your drivers are up to date. If the crashing continues, then reset all overclocks back to stock. If the crashing STILL continues, then things start to get trickier...

Thanks.
let p95 run until memtest finished...go no errors.
*although with 6gb of ram used and p96 in blend Worker #4 never was able to finish the first test...just sat there at 100% load*
Running a in place test everything "works"

Started up GTA IV again and played for about an hour+ and had not issues. gonna start up some stress tests again tonight after I get home
