Any i5 2550k reviews out there?

Thread Starter
Has anyone done a review of the intel i5 2550k, I can't find any reviews on the internet. I have my eye set on an i5 2550k witha sabertooth p67 motherboard and a pair of crossfire hd 6950 for my next gaming rig, but there is not much info out there on the i5 2550k:gaming benchmarks, how it overclocks etc. Anyone able to suggest any sources of reviews for that cpu? Cheers.

2550k is basicly 2500k with iGPU disabled and 100mhz higher clocked.

You won't find much because the i5-2550K is not that much different than a i5-2500K so why do a different review? From a quick 10 minute Google search and comparing the specs from the Intel website i was able to find out the following
  • The 2550K doesn't have the iGPU
  • the 2550K is only clocked 100mhz faster than the 2500K at stock settings
  • the 2550K costs $10-$15 more than the 2500K

here are the links from Intel website:

i5-2055K
i5-2500K

Conclusion.... save your money and get a 2500K instead, you may not need the iGPU now but it always comes in handy if your video card has issues. thumb.gif

I have one in my folding rig, it's running @ 4.8ghz w/ ~1.42 vcore IIRC, and it's getting me around 58k PPD on p6903 WU's.

I have seen others on ocn get theres up to 5.0-5.2ghz, so that leads me to believe I could go higher, but I am using an old h50 to cool it ATM so I don't want to push it too hard.

As faint1001 said it has no iGPU, and 100mhz faster default clock.

I actually got mine cheaper than a 2500k, so that's why I bought it. Last month Microcenter had them for $135, so I couldn't pass that up.

$135 really? I got it for $150 I thought that was the microcenter deal haha. Anyways, if you can get this cpu at microcenter then I would suggest doing so. I have mine overclocked to 4.5 @1.32 with load temps in the low/mid 50's with my Zalman cnps11x etreme. This is with an Asus p8z68v-pro/gen3 board btw so that sabertooth may do even better. Will post shots after I fiddle with my ram.

The 2500k benches will be roughly the same as the 2550k anyhow.

Is it possible that the CPU could be higher binned than the 2500k, like the 2700k to the 2600k, or not?
