Do I need to have ram installed for a computer to show a display.

I have been trying a computer build forever, (you can see from my last threads) and I want to know if a possible cause of not getting a display is having bad or wrong ram. If I take all of it out, will i still not get a display. Im just testing all the parts of the computer...Thanks.

No you won't get a display, you need to have memory installed in the PC before you can get a display. Also which one of the problem you have BAD Memory or Wrong Memory?

If you don't have ram installed nothing will be displayed.

Thanks, Also while im at it, i must say,so it turns on but I get no display, but after playing around with it, nothing careless and not touching the mobo at all..it turns on for a second and turns off now. meaning I turn the power button on and the leds flash and the fans go on, then it shuts off..It used to stay on..Any possibilites for this problem.

power short, make sure nothing is touching the case and no wires are pinched.

And make sure all of your screws are firm. I had a computer once that would just power up and power off immediately whenever I turned it off. Turned out I just needed to re-tighten all of the standoffs and motherboard screws.
