For all we know they have slightly better immune systems then homo sapiens and that's what the genes we've kept from them are for. It could be as simple as a slightly better protein usage or a slightly better musculature layout.

Evolution will decide what genes we keep from our interbreeding with neanderthal, to decide ourselves that these small number of genes are negative is folly before we understand them fully.

Adding to the genetic diversity of a species (such as by adding neanderthal genes to homo sapiens) can only make that species stronger in the long run as that species evolves.

The study that I read showed that through a sample of Americans, Europeans, and Asians only a percentage of the tested subjects had traces of Neanderthal ancestors while the majority did not, suggesting that as a whole Homo Sapiens and Neanderthal species inter-bred much less between the two than themselves. That study also suggested that those who had those Neanderthal traces were not as intelligent as those without.

But beyond that, I still stand by my pessimistic, obtuse and cynical opinion that the stupid people must go. One way or another. Would rather not wait on evolution for that to happen, as well.

About time he did something other than make highly overrated movies. (Alien and T2 are good, yes...But they're not as good as people say.)
Still, exciting news. Hopefully it helps kick start more space industry.

Once this is done, there will be money spent on ships developement and we would reach that planet in a short lapse of time (hopefully).

lmao its funny seeing all the comments full of hope, well false hope smile.gif because unless there's an upstoppable asteroid heading here, most humans don't give a !@$% about going out of space.

As I'm older than many of you...

1. We aren't going anywhere unless "they" help us - Contact.
2. Tether an asteroid and build a space elevator - A.C.Clark.
3. Wait a century for the inevitable technological advances - ( Me ! ).

Then we might get to Mars, which is a big renovation job...

dunx

P.S. That's if we don't destroy Earth and ourselves first. Since I saw the first moon landing at school we have been nowhere, and done nothing. So none of this is likely in my lifetime.

What are you suggesting? Rounding up the "stupid" and putting them in concentration camps?

Every "douche", every ignorant moron, every "stupid person" is not inherently stupid. They are just influenced and corrupted by values and "ideals" of the modern world, in which people are fed true stupidity, utterly nihilistic crap like MTV, are led to ridicule and despise education and intellectual pursuits, and are taught a corporate brand-focused materialism.
I wouldn't call the people stupid - I'd call their environment an huge pile of filth. Not all of it, of course - but we're getting there.

Of course, this only applies to the 1st world.

EDIT: Unless of course you were suggesting racial stupidity, which would be all kinds of wrong

I agree...I was playing GTA IV the other day andi noticed the game makes fun of science in numerous ways. I was acctually quite offended when they jabbed at Stephen Hawkins and how he should take a "Walk" because he thinks to much,...i can tell what audience this game was made for...the majority, the brainless, morons.

But the game does have some incredible physics...most notably the car vs people interactions...fantastic. Yes i mean the physics and ragdoll effects involved in running over people...it's brilliant.

google is going to be the main founder.

They generate more income than nasa

And to make such large claims of trillions to gdp, they must already have a plan drawn up.

Its about time we spent money on something different besides killing each other like a bunch of monkeys.

How about SpaceX just manage to do an unmanned docking with ISS first. They don't call space missions rocket science for nothing, there are a lot of engineering issues and requirements that people who's only known how to make websites just can't understand until they start trying (read Elon Musk). The difference between a wish and a goal is the latter has a realizable plan, until SpaceX actually manage to launch satellites with the same frequency and reliability as the old Russian vehicles I'm not going to bet on them.
