I read that the 7970 might get a price drop soon but other wise seems ok, Id try and wait for the 680 to be in higher supply personally.

When i receive my card, i would like to test it in current configuration where i have AMD 4850.
Should i install new card like this or?
1) uninstall drivers
2) sweep ATI Drivers
3) Remove card
4) Add new card
5) Install drivers
6) Reboot
Thanks

Use ATIMAN uninstaller to remove ALL traces of ATI driver BEFORE you install your new card. Then turn off PC unplug it etc (DO NOT USE DRIVER SWEEPER!!!!!!!) and install your new card. Then boot up. Your video will be terribly slow, low res and jerky, ignore it. Then go to AMD's website or wherever if you use modded drivers/no cap etc and install the drivers for the HD 7970. It should be fine!

ATIMAN UNINSTALLER

Enjoy your 7970!

Thats for sure.

Prices are always going down, but if i was going to wait for more price drop, then i would never get it, there is always another rebate after another, thats how it is, and you know it.

Price can't go down more then 50-100 bucks 2nd time, if even that.

IMO dont go crossfire. You will have nothing but head aches. The 7970 is a powerful card and enough for any game. The people with 7970 crossfire IMO are just wasting there money. I run a single 580 on a single 1920x1080 display and its more then enough. Who really cares what people think. You got a great card, Its a power house & thats that.

I have run Crossfire unlocked 6950's & SLI 560 ti's and its nothing but a PITA. I switched to a single GPU and its been amazing.
