my temps sit around 80-82 in prime.
im 4 hours into converting video right now and the highest temp recorded was 76* mainly sitting around 70-72 prime 95 is totally unrealistic when it comes to load and temps.
imo i don't use prime or Intel burn test for stability. video conversion while multitasking and gaming is the best test honestly.

I got a "bad" chip too. I'm running almost the same bios settings and I'm maxed out at 4.4GHz with the same exact v-offset which comes out to be 1.34v vcore. Its nice to see some good ones out there!

My offset in bios is .145 and load line on high. This nets me my 1.496v underload. This is what I run 24/7 since the release of these chips.

Granted I have all the c states and speed step enabled

Use OCCT if you want to test CPU in a short amount of time.

That's pretty great voltage for 4.7. I need 1.45 for 4.8.

Not to thread hijack....but I've also just started my 3930K + Sabertooth x79 OCing. Currently I've done a little testing at 4.7 and 4.8GHz; both of which post/boot/run p95 (only tested for a short period) at 1.32V.

4.8 @ 1.32v - idle: 45-48 -- full load; one core got to 85c...others around 78-81c within 10mins of p95
4.7 @ 1.32v - idle: 40-42 -- full load; around 70-74c

I'm thinking 4.7 is probably the 'sweet spot' -- never hits 80 and idles a bit cooler.

I also had a question about the speed step stuff. I have it enabled in BIOS but my CPU never throttles down when idle. It just hangs out at 4700 or 4800 no matter what. Any suggestion on what/where I should check to get it working again?

what are your Power Options/Power Plan set to in windows? If i set mine to High Performance, mine is stuck @ 4.7Ghz.. set it to Balanced, and i throttle down..

I haven't touched anything in windows settings. I try to keep windows out of it. I have all the c states forced on. Not set
"enabled" try forcing c1e on.
This will enable the chip to return to idle voltage and throttle up accordingly.

Yeah someone had responded in my build thread. I pushed the c states to enabled and it throttles down to 1200mhz. Really impressed so far smile.gif Thanks for the tip.

That chip is begging for a waterloop. wink.gif

Sabertooth x79 and 3930k here too. I'd bet some of you can get away with a lot lower voltage, especially running your DDR3 ram sub-2GHz.

4.375Ghz @ 1.245v vcore, 1.2v VSA, 1.1v VTTD, 1.25 strap, 125 bclck, 1.5v vdimm, DDR3-2000MHz (what I'm currently running..60*c max load/40*c idle)
4.600GHz @ 1.285v vcore, 1.3v VSA, 1.2v VTTD, 1.25 strap, forget bclck, 1.585v vdimm, DDR-23XX (was barely 64 or 65*c I remember at load)

Beyond that my chip need 1.3v and I was being a vag cuz my cpu was new and didn't want to push it smile.gif Every time I try and offset the voltage is way too high then when I try to bring it back down it won't boot. Manual voltage for me for the time being I goess..

Well, i think 1.32V @ 4,7Ghz is pretty good. mine is stable so far.

The only thing i dont like so much, is 80c on one of the cores under Prime95 SmallFFT.. using a Noctua NH-D14.. tried to apply less thermal paste, and the temp went down maybe 1-2c

But, i guess its ok, i dont have have full load 24/7, and under gaming BF3, i get 65c as the highest..
