Corsair Obsidian 650D Cooling

Thread Starter
Hello Forums!

I'm neutral at this moment in time but I need a few other opinions on something. For all of you guys that have the "Corsair Obsidian 650D" case I have a few questions.

1. Do you guys use the Fan Controller provided in the case?
2. Is the default intake/exhaust system pretty well done?

The case acts as a air conditioning unit in my room right now. Only after maybe 6 hours of hard gaming will it temp flex.

Thanks,
Fellow Gamer

1) No, I don't use the factory fan controller, I have a Scythe Kaze Master Pro.

2) It works well enough for me.

I am not a gamer, but I do a lot of photo and video editing along with all the normal Office-type stuff, and run around 28-31C idle and haven't seen over 59C ever. The only time I got that high was when I ran Prime95 to see what it would do. Ambient temp in my office is around 22-23C. I use a CM Hyper 212+, and am not overclocked at the moment.

I do have mine set up a little differently though; I have the front 200mm stock fan and the rear 120mm (AP-29) as intakes along with my PSU and only one exhaust at the top. I run my 212+ bottom-to-top.

450

I also have 2 R4's, one as a pull on the 212+ and one on top of my 2nd drive cage which is mounted in the lower position. This one blows directly across my GFX card. I tried out several different configurations before settling on this one as the best for me.

Just my 2c worth...hope it helps,

Rich

1. yes i use it and works well for me. i set it to medium and it has been like that ever since. i dont think the built in controllers are meant to be always accessed though..

2. the case is built with the normal front to back/top exhaust and it works ok. the only issue is that there are people (me included) that are having problems with the front fan. we ended up cutting the front grill or changing the fan itself. here is the dedicated corsair 650d thread http://www.overclock.net/t/907643/corsair-obsidian-650d-mid-tower feel free to ask additional questions there thumb.gif
