(GF) related to the 2012 Amendment to the Wafer Supply Agreement; amortization of acquired intangible assets of $1 million; a restructuring charge of $8 million; SeaMicro, Inc. (SeaMicro) acquisition costs of $6 million, and a tax benefit related to the SeaMicro acquisition of $36 million.

Ouch. It's moments like this that I really wish AMD hadn't bought ATI and invested in R&D instead. The market desperately needs someone to challenge Intel and force them to innovate and provide competitive pricing, but if this keeps up, I can't see AMD really keeping Intel honest. Hopefully Trinity/Piledriver and the Microsoft Xbox contracts put some much needed cash in AMD's pockets. If they can begin to capture the laptop market from Intel, they should be able to be a bit more competitive.

So they spent 260 and 700m on Sea Micro and GF but only lost 500m in the quarter?

Good point. That means they had a somewhat positive quarter.

That's encouraging.

I wonder what AMD's cash reserves are. If I've read correctly they lost more in one quarter than they earned in net income last year.

I think AMD will be doing a lot better soon enough. Trinity looks like it will be good and from what I have heard the new game consoles are going to be using an AMD CPU and GPU.

This. Looks like they're making steady progress toward the breakeven point (term for when they've balanced out their spending with their earnings).
