really odd issues need some serious help

Thread Starter
ok so i have an ocz zx 850w modular power supply. the issues i am encountering are extremely weird the system will power on and run fine for anywhere between 10 mins to 3 hrs or more and then the graphics cut out for 60 secs or so and i can still hear sounds like the pc is running then the gpu fan spins up and sounds like a freaking jet engine and the system locks up and the only way to stop it is to flip the power switch on the psu. i have installed a new gpu mobo and cpu since the issue started. it is with my sig rig which is a work in progress. the issue stopped with a driver update on my 6950 but now that it has returned it leads me to believe its more of a power supply issue.

has anyone experienced this issue or know how to fix it? i honestly dont have time to screw with an rma ny experiences with oczs rma dept haven't been to great and i dont have the cash to get a new psu. i literally just dropped all the extra cash i had into my last update.

my guess, and its just a guess would be either the PSU is going out, or your Motherboard is dying.

ive reset cmos and everything else it does it in both overclocked and stock settings. the issues happen sporadically and cant really be calculated as far as time till the next one or whats causing it. it happens during games movies music boot bios anytime and at anyplace during boot and operation. sometimes the gpu wont even display picture at boot. and it cant be the card my 6950 did the same thing theres no way thats just a coincidence that 2 cards of completely different models have the same exact issues.

I would try different RAM. It can cause so many issues. Run a memstest first and then even if it passes switch out the RAM and see if it persists. I had a really evasive RAM problem just recently.
