Thats when I will ditch my 6970 and cross over. Preferably an Asus Direct Touch CU model.

If this card is so powerful, I assume it's going to use about as power consumption as a GTX 690. Which is not exactly great for my 900W UPS, which already hits 750W during heavy loads.

Right now i'm idling at 357W, that includes monitor/receiver hooked up to 7.1 speakers.

Power consumption is probably going to be about on par with previous high end Nvidia GPUs.

Is this a GK110 or GK112? The article doesn't seem to say anywhere. Is this something quadro related or is it indeed a consumer level GPU?

From the short description by Nvidia it sounds like they're going to be discussing compute features of the chip in the conference. So I think it's safe to assume that this is the high end GPGPU part which will probably also translate into a high end GeForce card.

I smell high end kepler as well smile.gif Will be an insta buy for me when it comes out. Now let's just hope that the added GPGPU features aren't going to make the gaming perf increase disappointingly small.

I still think that this is gonna beat every single 28nm GPU AMD has made or will make. Terrified to see power consumption numbers though.

690 is the card with 2x GK104 that is rumored to come out before may 5th.

The GPU being talked about here is the higher end single GPU that has twice the transistors of a single 680 and is supposed to be more suited for Quadro and tesla markets than the "mid range kepler chip" GK104.

Also the conference Nvidia is planning to use to show the new GPU is May 14th to 17th so it'll be after the 690 has released. Besides the 690 isn't what interests people who go and attend a conference where Nvidia talks about compute features of their GPUs.
