That's not really what I'm saying. I'm referring to a lot of people's negative attitudes about Nvidia bringing out GK110 so early after GK104 came out. Though for my money neither the 680 nor 7970 look like a great enough improvement over last generation parts to warrant an upgrade.

I just highly doubt Nvidia is releasing a new card at the end of the year. I know the rumors say otherwise but it completely flys in the face of their past release schedules and as of right this second they have the slight edge in performance.

It would be cool to see I guess but I really doubt it's happening. At this point all these GPU releases are starting to frustrate me with no new consoles. Nothing is going to truly take advantage of this stuff til that happens. 6 years ago we were struggling to run Doom 3 with 30 FPS, now we're struggling to run BF3 at 60 with 4xMSAA. I can't wait til the next consoles and games are demanding again.

Absolutely true. For the most part my 580's were bored with every high-end game available, not to mention my 7970's...

110 will come out to battle the 8970, and that's probably at the end of the year or early 2013.

Intel bested their own processors with the sandy to ivy bridge jump...... heck you could even say they bested their own processors i7 > sandy > ivy.....

nvidia would not be losing money on this, the small kepler would make up the budget cards (including the rumored 690) and the big kepler would be the tesla/quadro/extreme high end geforce cards..... sorta like what intel does with its Extreme branding......

I'm a little disheartened that $500 is no longer top-of-the-line for GPU's (assuming this gets a Geforce release).

$300 is the sweet spot for GPU pricing for me, anything more isnt worth it

Videocards have the shortest economic life of any computer component and I just don't game enough to merit spending that much on a commodity.

But Nvidia doesn't need to do this for competition, they can do it solely from a business standpoint. They release a more powerful GPU at a higher price, they still profit even if competition can't compete with the current top one.

yea thats actually a really good possibility. still too bad that the 110 was having problems when the 7970 hit newegg...

but if that is the case then there is no point in considering the 700s until amd's 8000 series arrives...

seriously sucks that what is more than likely to become next years highest end single gpu card was suppose to hit newegg by the time the 7990s reviews were in.

So darn true smile.gif +rep

I decided to not buy on release, wait the generation to go either on sale or buy it used. Price deflation on high-end models is ranging to 20-40% each new generations. The GTX580 was around 550, you could find it shortly after GTX680 release @ 350$! That is close to 40% price cut in 1 year eek.gif

Buy new mid-range around 300$ or wait price drop for higher-end models.
