Hello guys.

My buddy's motherboard got fried for some reason and he wants to remove his i7 from it.

My question is where do we place it where it cant be harmed or scratched in any way?

Much Thanks.

back in the box with the little plastic cover over the buisness side of the cpu.if you dont have that,an anti static bag might be best.

Quick question, Should the pins face the smooth part of the plastic?

I'd recommend not placing it precariously on a magazine balanced on a narrow windowsill. Destroyed my buddy's old athlon x64 when I nudged the magazine ever so slightly causing it to catastrophically slide onto a tiled floor at an angle bending ALL the pins frown.gif

all LGA based CPU's have the pins on the mobo not the CPU
well unless its a mobile CPU.

OP; you'll be safe just either wrapping it in some bubble wrap+antistatic so you don't knock off those bits on the back of the CPU or putting it into the plastic CPU tray that comes when you bought the CPU
