(For Trading Card Players Out There) What is the Difference between a Playmat and a mouspad

I don't have a mouse pad at all right now. I've been using the back of a bamboo placemat for a while. The mouse surprisingly doesn't care but my hands do. I used to play Magic the Gathering and they sold playmats. Never bought any but thought they were more detailed than the run of the mill mouse pad. I've never used them for that purpose, can I effectively replace a playmat for a mousepad?

I don't have any idea what you're talking about, but honestly there's no magic to mouse-pads. They exist for 3 reasons:

Provide consistent surface for consistent movement and tracking. (in case you have a rough/uneven desk surface)

Provide a trackable surface (in case your desk is glass or something that wouldn't otherwise work)

To provide a desirable tactile feel.

If anything at all fulfills these requirements, its a viable replacement for a mousepad.
