Yeah, I made that possibility in my first post. Might be true, who knows?

Okay, but the problem is you can't decouple the two. If only half of something works, it's overall crap.

If something does its DRM job, but I am unable to resume my game(s) properly from where I left off, how is that a good solution?

Never had that problem with Steam. I am not saying that GFWL can't work, but it's certainly not doing things that it clearly should given its umbrella of authority.

Please stop posting... if you like GFWL, good for you. But because of the opportunity that GFWL isn't needed to play the game, we still fight to grab that opportunity. Nothing's wrong with GFWL, but wouldn't you agree that it'll be better WITHOUT GFWL?

If that's your attitude, I'd ask you to stop posting instead of that playground stuff "I don't like what you're saying so get out". Also, if they're using the 360 version as their port then they will still be using a lot of the Live code. To use Steamworks will mean a hell of a lot of recoding. I highly doubt they're going to jump over to Steamworks once the decision has been made to use GFWL - it's a harsh reality. Don't mix my personal opinion with opinion of the possible facts.

No, I honestly don't care one way or another. The possibility of cross platform play and achievements? I wouldn't mind that at all. The possibility of Steamworks? I wouldn't mind that at all. I don't care either way because I've committed to buy it. I've said all along that the best you folk can hope for is a Steam release because I honestly doubt they're going to change from GFWL. The only hope you have is if they haven't yet begun to code anything or sign a contract with Microsoft. I'm just being realistic.

Personal opinion? I don't mind GFWL and don't see anything wrong with it as a DRM. Others pointed out a lot of flaws in the other thread on this that enlightened me a little bit but I honestly don't care. I'm just bothered slightly by the hyperbole over it all. As I said, I don't give a monkey's uncle because I'm buying it. Dark Souls is an insta-buy for me. They could make it with baby guts for all I care - I'm buying it! tongue.gif

I haven't that that problem with either of them.

And I'm just going off what he said. He seems to be unable to separate the two and I suspect FromSoftware will have a hard time separating the Live code from the game too. What with the GFWL endorsement it's obvious they're porting from the 360 version.

Ah, I gotcha. My bad, I misunderstood. smile.gif

Well, in my experience, I am one of the unfortunate people who had terrible issues with savegames and GFWL. redface.gif

Lets try this on for size:

1 - I shoot you in the leg
2 - You scream "ow, that hurt!"
3 - I say "sorry, how can I help?"
4 - You say "Take me to the F'ing hospital and pay me a million dollars"
5 - I slap a spongebob squarepants band-aid on your boo-boo and call it a day.
6 - You praise me for listening.

Sounds about right to me rolleyes.gif

Really? Are people forgetting there had to be a massive partition for the game for them to even consider releasing Dark Souls on PC? Who in the right mind gave you all of this bloody things you think you deserve?

The game wasn't coming to PC, they probably are still tipsy on it and by God, everyone's ranting and raving with partitions for every nit-picked thing is not helping.

What is wrong with GFWL? It is just like Steam? Steam itself is a DRM, it just presents itself as a Service, as does GFWL. I have never had GFWL stuff with me, actually I'm quite sure 90% haven't experienced major problems with it, just as is with Steam.

When did we ever become so greedy? When did we ever assume, because we own and play on a PC platform, that we DESERVE certain things? Will really, oh so really not running at 60FPS kill you? I don't know why you think your eyes will for some reason hate, oh so bloody hate running at 30FPS, it is perfectly fine when you consider you were not even going to get the game before.

PC Gaming is great, but we as a community just moan and rant about every bloody little thing, bloody hell when will we start to realise that we are not the center of the world.

.

It's 70-80% completed already. They started this way before the petition. If they had made it in response to the petition, they would just be starting work on it around now lol.

Proof? I distinctly remember an interview in Jan or sometime saying it was possible if there was fan interest then there being the petition. 6 months or so is possible if its a 360 port wink.gif

He couldn’t comment on the frame rate issues in the PC version since the game is still under development, which is about 70–80 percent complete.

it says in the article
Quote:
Miyazaki told us that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is pretty much a direct port of the console release. There are around three to four new stages, four new bosses, a new stage for PvP, and a handful of new NPCs made for new players

Believe it or not, porting from 360 Console to PC doesn't take that long, especially if they maintain the Xbox Live netcodes.
I think you're confusing Rubers comment about petition, there was a petition started back in January for the game to be released on PC

http://petitionbureau.org/DarkSoulsForPC

There's a 2nd petition now to remove GFWL
