Believe it or not, porting from 360 Console to PC doesn't take that long, especially if they maintain the Xbox Live netcodes.
I think you're confusing Rubers comment about petition, there was a petition started back in January for the game to be released on PC
http://petitionbureau.org/DarkSoulsForPC
There's a 2nd petition now to remove GFWL

Yep!

A lot of topics in this thread on one subject so here is what I think

This is good that they are listening to their fan base so much, did they have to remove GFWL, no, but will it keep good relations with their customers and potentially increase sales, yes.

Most people hate GFWL mostly due to the fact it can be a wonky system (the DRM is a complaint but a livable one) some days it works great but other days hates the user, at least from my experience

Now if they continue to listen to their fans they should within the next 4 months should be able to; resolution options, no FPS lock (besides v-sync), better kb/m controls (but having to use a game pad won't be a deal breaker), and release dlc for console players
All this could be done if they sources are complete its 70-80% complete

just my 2cents.gif

GFWL can cause bugs, performance slowdowns, corruption, etc.

Running at 720p with a console controller at 30fps isn't really going to hamper your gaming experience unless you're shallow enough to not get sucked into a game anyway. If the games fun enough you'll stop noticing the resolution, etc quickly.

Never had that problem with Steam. I am not saying that GFWL can't work, but it's certainly not doing things that it clearly should given its umbrella of authority.

I haven't that that problem with either of them.

And I'm just going off what he said. He seems to be unable to separate the two and I suspect FromSoftware will have a hard time separating the Live code from the game too. What with the GFWL endorsement it's obvious they're porting from the 360 version.

While I think say, the online play would still be based off the live version (Not GFWL, but XBL. There's differences, obviously.) the save games, etc probably wouldn't be. They'd have to change it from XBL to GFWL anyway. Not to mention, GFWL can slow down games...Proven fact.

As for all the people complaining that PC gamers complain a lot about games...Well, I wasn't the least bit interested in Dark Souls PC until I heard about it from all the GFWL stuff anyway.

Running at 30fps does hamper my gaming experience. I would either turn down settings or buy new hardware if I could only get 30fps in a game... If that didn't do it, I would say my PC isn't good enough to run the game.

30FPS is a terrible experience, might as well not play it.

Generally 30fps is a terrible experience because while your average is 30, you're dipping below 30 often. If your minimum is around 30 then that's the minimum for fluid gameplay. Yeah, there's a difference but there isn't much of one.

30FPS gives me a headache.

60FPS is nice and smooth.

85FPS is like soft serve icecream though.

I highly doubt they're going to jump over to Steamworks once the decision has been made to use GFWL - it's a harsh reality. Don't mix my personal opinion with opinion of the possible facts.
No, I honestly don't care one way or another. The possibility of cross platform play and achievements? I wouldn't mind that at all. The possibility of Steamworks? I wouldn't mind that at all. I don't care either way because I've committed to buy it. I've said all along that the best you folk can hope for is a Steam release because I honestly doubt they're going to change from GFWL. The only hope you have is if they haven't yet begun to code anything or sign a contract with Microsoft. I'm just being realistic.
Personal opinion? I don't mind GFWL and don't see anything wrong with it as a DRM. Others pointed out a lot of flaws in the other thread on this that enlightened me a little bit but I honestly don't care. I'm just bothered slightly by the hyperbole over it all. As I said, I don't give a monkey's uncle because I'm buying it. Dark Souls is an insta-buy for me. They could make it with baby guts for all I care - I'm buying it! tongue.gif

Why post a wall of text when you can just say, "I'm fully committed to buying the game despite the controversies surrounding it." This is why you should stop posting. rolleyes.gif And if you don't give a "monkey's uncle" about what people say, then why even bother rebutting every other post that complain about GFWL and limited PC controls/graphics? Their mothers should be the ones handling them. As for me, I'm still buying the game even if it's on Origin for all I care.
