Switching from GFWL should not cause any serious delay. Anyway, as people just don't seem to understand just b/c you never had a problem doesn't mean no one has had a problem. Go google "GFWL problem" and see how many hit and different threads are out there. There is a reason barely any publishers use GFWL anymore.

But go on, keep calling people "wieners" if it will make you feel better.

they would have to reprogram the whole multiplayer aspect if they removed GFWL.
that may cause a big delay, as it won't just be a port job, it'll be writing new code.
you guys should read your steam agreement and the GFWL agreement. They're very different.

Actually no, the multiplayer code would be the same, just the matchmaking would be affected. If they use something like Steamworks they can use Steam's platform to manage the same thing, there are also other platforms out there like Gamespy. But the GFWL just gets people connected, it doesn't handle the actual mp code.

i meant the matchmaking
so you think you just have plug in Steamworks or Gamespy?
you don't have to write new code for the game to work with Steamworks/Gamespy? The achievements? etc?

Right now its take the 360 game, and port the game, matchmaking, achievements, etc
takes very little time, little resources, little funds

or redo the matchmaking, write new code for matchmaking, make sure everything works correctly with steamworks/gamespy/origin/etc,
takes more time, more resources, more funds.

Its not like Dark Souls is some AAA title that's a cash cow, even the console versions didn't sell tremendously.

GFWL can cause bugs, performance slowdowns, corruption, etc.
Running at 720p with a console controller at 30fps isn't really going to hamper your gaming experience unless you're shallow enough to not get sucked into a game anyway. If the games fun enough you'll stop noticing the resolution, etc quickly.
While I think say, the online play would still be based off the live version (Not GFWL, but XBL. There's differences, obviously.) the save games, etc probably wouldn't be. They'd have to change it from XBL to GFWL anyway. Not to mention, GFWL can slow down games...Proven fact.
As for all the people complaining that PC gamers complain a lot about games...Well, I wasn't the least bit interested in Dark Souls PC until I heard about it from all the GFWL stuff anyway.

You're one of those nut jobs from the "human eyes can't detect anything beyond 24hz and cant resolve images any more precise than 120dpi" camp, aren't you?

Nah, I know eyes can see the difference even between 120fps and 240fps and I was always saying Retina displays are awesome. I want to get a 120hz display just for 120hz, not for 3D. It's always been well established that 30 is the minimum for fluid gameplay, but 60 is what you want on a 60hz monitor. I don't know why gamers have suddenly decided 30 isn't enough minimum, it seems around the HD3k/9800GTX+ time that it happened too. I agree that it's better to have higher FPS, but unless you're playing hardcore CSS or other FPS' then 30 is more than enough for fluid gameplay, even if 60/120/whatever is better.
Think of it like 120 being the Ferarri, 60 being the BMW and 30 being the Toyota. All will work decently but some work better.

Also, no GFWL is awesome (as long as they don't trade for Origin haha).
I was willing to buy it even with gfwl, now I want it more.

As much as I hate Origin; it is at least trying to be a decent service...eventually.

Quoted for truth.

Most of the matchmaking code, etc would be provided by Steam/Gamespy/whatever. All they'd need to do is get the game talking to those programs.

I get migraines if I "watch" too much low-fps gameplay. Depending on what I'm watching, that value changes. When it comes to games of any sort, 30 is just too low. Even with massive motion blurring, 30 will give me a migraine. Taring will also give me a migraine regardless of the FPS and as such I am always forced to play with vsync enabled. That has always been the case. It didn't magically change at some point just because someone bought a 9800gtx.

As far as I'm concerned, driving a toyota shouldn't give someone a migraine.

i've never programmed for these types of games, so i can be completely off, but from my experience in programing, it isn't easy as hell to integrate someone's code into your program.
Especially if they weren't written in the same type of language/structure.
If this was decided to be a PC game from the ground up, i can understand being annoyed about.
They originally didn't plan to bring this game to PC, if they did they would've started developing it after how popular Demon Souls was (1.58m sold worldwide).

I guess I just look at the reason why namcobandai are doing GFWL, its not to "screw" the customer, its to spend the least amount of $$ to bring a product to the PC market while trying to maximize profits.
Its not like this is a AAA must buy title with a huge fanbase.

this worldwide released game only sold according to VGCharts 1.07m on PS3, and 0.44m on 360 as of April 12th.
Consider 1.5 million people of the market will not be buying this PC Port.
How many PC users will actually buy this game? I doubt it'll beat the 360 in sales.

Why would field of view give me a migraine? Furthermore, what game do you know that has a FOV of 30?

Actually... you know what? If a game had a FOV of 30 that probably WOULD give me a migraine. Hopefully no developers read this post and come up with another great idea to degrade pc gaming and then slightly improve it years later and call it innovation.

Tearing, low FOV and 30fps in most games give me mild dizziness and headaches. I also get tired significantly faster compared to gaming without the aforementioned issues.
