Phenom II 1100T switch for a 3570k ivy or change video card to a gtx 680?

good morning people .. I draw on their knowledge ..

right now I have a motherboard with a processor PII am3 1100T and I have two options ..

1 - switch to a motherboard yvi Z77 bridge plus a 3570k i5

or

2 - leave the phenom II 1100T and change my 6970 for a gtx 680 ..

I'm leaning more for the first option .. I think it would improve with the 6970 I have yet for a while ..

you are saying? thanks ..

CPU. If you get the GPU chances are your current CPU will bottleneck it.

Id go with the GPU. A 1100 will NOT bottleneck a GTX680 especially with a healthy overclock especially on the CPU's NB. A 1100/GTX680 will outperform a i5/6970 setup.

imo, the best option is the 2600K, which is just as powerful and runs much cooler based on early test.

not sure where you from but Micorcenter sometmes drops the price of the 2600K to $200. Unbeatable!

btw, this setup will allow for sli even tri-sli with the right mobo.

Don't go at all. Wait for GK110. D:

However, I'd upgrade the CPU now because :

1. For future upgrades, the 3570k will do wonders. It'll ensure you're "safe" for the next 2-3 years easily with any kind of single /dual GPU upgrade.

2. The 6970 is still a very good GPU, so you can hang on to it for some time and later upgrade it without having to worry about a CPU bottlenecking your new GPU.

no way you get a bottle neck if you go gpu lots of amd bashing on this form but like it or not the 1100T is a VERY good cpu and not to mention i just explained in other thread bottle-necking used in this sense is a myth.
