Phenom II 1100T switch for a 3570k ivy or change video card to a gtx 680? - Page 2

Go for Ivy

If you upgrade to the GTX 680, your board won't be able to support PCIE 3. The bandwidth will be limited by a little. The difference can be negligible

The 6970 is still a good card. Keep it

I had my 1090t @ 4ghz with the NB @ ~2900mhz and went to my i5. I noticed a nice jump in smoothness in games across the board, and my 6950 is clocked faster than a 6970 at stock.

I'd say CPU personally. Yeah, the GPU will be a bigger individual upgrade compared to your 6970, but the CPU upgrade will boost both your processing and current GPU. You'll notice more difference across the board.

sorry to keep continuously reposting but i have alot to say on this and alot of misinformation is being thrown left and right.
I support any switch to nvidea within reason. but your card isnt even bad. if you HAVE to upgrade for some reason and cant wait a year or 2 and save money at least try crossfire for the 6970. the cpu is more then enough to power games and such and probably overkill right now anyways and getting a new mother board just to take such a negligible step forward seems like a waste. ride it out or crossfire imo

If he didn't feel like upgrading, I suspect he wouldn't have posted the question.

Anyway, as an answer to your other post, yes indeed the 1100T isn't as easily bottlenecked as some people claim.

But in terms of upgrades right now, the new CPU will ensure he won't have to worry about that part of his system for a few years to come.

Gfx card prices are expected to go down in a month so you should get your hands onto the ivy and then wait until 680 is cheaper then you can grab it tongue.gif

GTX680 hands down.

The CPU will probably give 5-10% better framerates, but the GTX680 will double them.

Thread Starter
the intention is to sell my processor and motherboard, put a little more $ and switch to ivy .. Bone thought it was a good option that .. and can not change cpu motherboard and end of the year and continue with the 6970 that goes very well in every game and in a few months but switch to a 7950 or 680 depending on my cash .. but change it for the subject time .. is that the 1100T is an excellent process, but this old man as being more old man is more loses its resale value .. only because that would be .. I'm from Paraguay .. and the things I purchase from amazon ..

I will wait to see the review of 3570k and decide .. thank you very much ..

Definatley sell the cpu and get ivy you will see a massive bump in performance, imagine getting the 680 and only getting 70% gpu usage that's what would happen with that old 1100t.

God, I really hate all the AMD bashing.

A highly clocked AMD processor will NOT bottleneck one GPU. Two, most likely, as that's a lot more data, but it would NOT bottleneck one.

The 1100T is still a good processor, and will handle the 680 without any problems.

As someone said above, with a processor upgrade, you may see a 5-10% performance increase, as with the 680, you'll see your FPS double.
