New ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard Install

Thread Starter
So, I just got my new Asus 990FX Sabertooth and would like advise on install. Not physical install, but software install. I've read threads that suggest a clean install of windows is best and I've read threads saying that it is not necessary. I have an ssd and a hard drive. I've copied all program, program x86, and what i would like to keep onto my hdd. I'm ready to do this. Your thoughts and suggestion are appreciated. Thanks.
I'm dying to do some oc'ing on this thing!sonic.gif

for me Ive had problems in the past with not doing a fresh install and Ive not had any problem when I do a fresh install so now I always do a fresh install

I would do a clean install. I have had nothing but problems when trying to replace a mobo on the same windows install. If your still gonna use the same install make sure you uninstall all the old mobo drivers. thats my 2cents.gif

When I installed me beloved new Sabertooth after a few hours of cuddling with it, I tried to boot into Windows but couldnt get passed the "Windows is starting" screen so I reinstalled my retail copy. Only got 1 more left. Oh well. I thought it might fire up since I was coming from a 780G chipset but I guess the 780 and 990 were just too far off to gel. I didnt mind cause I wanted to be lazy and not have to reinstall everything but it wouldve bugged me having all that new gear and an old install of Win7 on it. I always advise to just do a clean install. It cant hurt but could really help.

And congrats on the board. It is the best AMD board available IMO. Its about indestructible and overclocks like a dream. More options in the UEFI than you can imagine if youre coming from a standard BIOS.
