I've made an FAQ (http://www.overclock.net/faqs/117219...ml#post1342145) and me and another user, Le_Loup, are interested in finding out if ANY of the X-FI soundcards have RCA STEREO outputs, i.e. the white and red terminals.

I'm of the opinion that they don't and Le_Loup believes there are RCA Stereo outputs...

So, please claify for the both of us.

Regards,

Jimmy

Those are inputs, not outputs. Like, if you wanted to record something from an analogue souce. Thanks though.

It would seem the digital plugs do but no RCA, I also checked the Elite Pro and they do not either.

You can take the headphone style jack output plug for channels one and two and plug in a jack to RCA converter on ANY X-FI card. Then you set the card for two speaker mode and you are set to use RCA jacks.

FYI: RCA is a plug form-factor. The REAL question is: Is the analog output from the X-FI impedence and voltage matched with your average stereo amplifier. Answer: Yes. You just need a form-factor converter.

A converter that doesn't come with the X-Fi I presume. I am familiar with these wires, but they often lead to quality degradation... the cables are badly shielded, and often the quality of the wire is... debatable. Then there's the whole "shortest signal-path" debate which stipulates that the less unnecessairy stuff between your source and your amplification, the better.

Yeah, I don't think those are for your grandmas stereo The magazine where I first found out about those said they cost 40+ pounds (like 80 bucks). In any case, most MP3s neuter extreme high and low frequencies...

Anybody else believe that there are RCA outputs on ANY of the X-Fi cards (other than the possibility FrankenPC described above)?

I can't help but feel I was getting bashed in my FAQ, potentially for nothing. No hard feelings in any case
