i7 or i5

Thread Starter
Can somebody tell me the main difference between the i7 and i5 processors, are the i7s worth the extra money ?

Hyper Threading. If you have programs that take advantage of them then yes. For gaming i5 is perfectly fine.

pretty much this ^^^ is the only real difference, better if your doing a lot of encoding type stuff and as for overclocking they are fairly competitive smile.gif

HTbenefits in video encoding/audio encoding/compression/Benching vs a CPU w/o it , for gaming 2500k is more than enough thumb.gif
