[TF] Megaupload Trial May Never Happen, Judge Says - Page 3

Unless your an expert in the law, its pretty hard to see whats happening.

But soon you wont have any rights, they are trying to push another bill though so the us government can shutdown websites without a warrant / trial.
If you dont have a trial that means your guilty just because the government says so, with no evidence to back it up.

This is why we have a judge that can rule in our favor.

This is basic protection for us citizens, and its their to keep the government from just tossing people in jail for no reason

These are basic protections that literally protect you from your own government.

Honestly how can you trust the united states government
when we just caught 11 secret service agents with 20 hookers and traces of cocaine?

These are people that walk next to the president for the love of god.

Not to mention
We have 7.1 million people in prison almost twice that of red dawn china.

We also have the highest cancer rates

We have the highest overall crime

I can keep going.........

But generally Americans are pretty naive.

Better start sticking up for your freedoms while you still can.

It's highly corrupted is this case.

Take this: The US Govt was desperate to delete all the files on their servers. They're blocking Megaupload from being able to unfreeze enough assets to secure sale of the servers and their content to defend themselves. That's right, the US govt is trying to deny Megaupload the right to a fair trial by taking the evidence they want from the servers and then allowing the rest of the infromation to be deleted so that MU can't form a case.

Let's just examine that for a moment. It's as though you were accused of speeding, the district takes the pictures from the camera that show you may have been speeding, then erase the contents of the camera's hard drives so that you can't access any information that might prove you weren't speeding.

In any legal proceeding you have the right to see any evidence that will be used against you and the right to access the well from which they got it - unless you're Megaupload.

It's insane. All this less happened less than a month after MU announced MegaMusic (or something similarly named to that) which pledged to give artists a huge amount of royalties per song they uploaded there and after a large number of celebrities and artists signed up to go there. Couple that with the numerous media spins on MU and Kim Dotcom himself, all the slurs and but hoorahs about what he does with his money...

Now everyone who's blinded by whatever they read in the papers (which is more people than I care to imagine) will think that MU is a pirate paradise and won't want to give them business. They've effectively destroyed MU by accusing them and if the case falls through and MU can't prove their innocence that does even further damage because it still casts doubt.

I'm personally annoyed because I jumped on a 6 month account because it was the price of a month and a half. I had around 30 large files uploaded which included videos I'd made for my coursework, back up files from my computer (that were too large for Dropbox) and large amounts of assets for my coursework. I also downloaded a lot of content from there via XDA which was utterly decimated by all this hassle and it was impossible to find anything for a couple of months afterwards.

I'm sure many people used MU for pirated stuff but there were many, many legitimate uses and I'd say given the lengths MU went to outside the DMCA to keep rights holders happy it should've gone far to prove they were willing to work with them instead of against them.

I got like 90% of my game mods from MU. If anything there were more legal files than illegal ones.
