These will always be higher than the core temps unless something is really wrong with your CPU. So if your BIOS, HWMonitor and Asus probe are all showing the socket temp at 64 at max load and 50 on core temps, that might be about right.
Mine show 60-61 on the socket and 50-54 on the core under Prime95 and I have a similar overclock to yours. You have a much better cooler so that would explain the 4 degree cooler reading youre getting on the core.
If youre not going to overclock the NB, try turning that voltage down. Cutting that made a HUGE difference in my temps.

True not all, but only the vast majority. Wonder if one of those cases with a fan on the backside of the motherboard tray would help cheat at socket temp rolleyes.gif.

Though what MacLeod said abotu the CPUNB is absolutely true. Even a couple notches down will lower the CPU temp noticibly.

I just picked up a new case has a spot for 1 120mm fan on the back of the mobo and room for 8 120mm or 6 140mm or 2 200mm fans on the left panel

Try them in the Antec. Im running the Scythe Slipestream 120mm's all on Medium settings (the 140mm top exhaust is the stock Antec. Its the only non-Scythe Im using) and I dont have a problem with noise. Dont get me wrong, it aint quiet by any means but its not anything Id call annoying. My wife's computer is right next to mine and her's is sometimes louder than mine. I never have a problem talking to her or anything so it aint much noise. Now if I turn them on High, they start to really sing. They move a ton of air though but it is a little much.

Im thinking about upgrading my case too. No reason really as this 300 has served me well these last 4 years but it would be nice to have a little more room. A full ATX motherboard like my beloved Sabertooth and 11" long 5870 kinda make for a cramped interior. I bet ya I could shave a degree or two off my CPU temps if I had either a full tower case or at least something a little bigger like a Storm Scout.

Try not to laugh too hard, but this will pretty much describe it. My fan and hard drive combination in this Rosewell case generate enough vibration that it puts my WD Blacks into 'low vibration mode'- if that's any description of how ANNOYING my case is. Can't wait for the Carbide to get here biggrin.gif:D

Hey I aint gonna laugh at a brother having to buy what he can afford. Im just now being able to afford more and better toys now that Ive got 2 jobs. Thats the only good thing about working 2 jobs. But yeah, I was right there with ya with my $50 Athlon X2 7750 processor and ONBOARD graphics trying to play games on my 10 year old 1024x768 CRT monitor. I did spring a little extra for this case though cause I wanted a system I could keep building onto and Im glad I did cause this is the same case, DVD drive and 1 of the hard drives from my original build. Everything else was upgraded as money allowed over the last several years.

Amen, same way I went at it. This build has been undergoing small revisions for the past year, but before that, good ol' Intel E5200 thumb.gif. Been doing good for me though, at least the new case will quiet it down. Flimsy metal vibrating, ugh. Wish I would have invested in a more sturdy case.

Now I get why people say you shouldn't cheap out on your case and power supply.
