Even with the far from optimized code on the beta, I'm getting ~90fps with everything maxed on my sig rig (Radeon 5850). It had a horrible stutter though, so I'm running with vsync on (60fps cap) and my GPU fan stays calm& quiet biggrin.gif

thanks for all the responses everyone. I really liked how fast the 7870 was but the noisy fan and random crashes I wasn't a fan of. Was really hoping nvidia would bring out they're mid range cards, not the 690... I may just bite the bullet and buy a 7970 or a 680 once this rma is done. Love the community here so helpful.

edit: I know the top cards are overkill but money isn't the issue really it's just making a decision based off what I need to run these games minium vs just buying a top end card and be covered for a few years or if I start playing new games.

thats exactly the reason
they indirectly admit it in there Q&A and I believe formally so during live Q&A

I believe a 250GTS could even hack D3, it runs SC2
any mid end card, preferably 1GB of vram equivalent to 460GTX or higher should be very satisfactory

from what I played/tried so far this game is better optimized than SC2

bottom line... if u can play SC2, D3 should be no problem

I know that Blizzard wants to reach a wide audience but this is rediculous. I can play the game FULLY MAXED on my sig rig with a GTX 260 at 1280x1024 resolution. I hope Blizzard ups the graphics options for the retail release.

So I'm sure at 1920x1080 resolution that you are running OP, ANY midrange or higher card from the last couple years will run the game maxed out i.e. GTX 460 and up or Radeon 5850 and up.

Just for the record, 5830 crossfire gets up to 120 fps maxed on 1080p. Not demanding really.

Sounds like the card you got was just bad. Why not get another 7870 (they will send you one back since you RMA'd it no?) since you liked it. It's plenty fast for D3.

At that res hmm.
My 6970 never went above 60% gpu usage in diablo 3 beta with everything at max and at 1900x1200. So I would go with that, you will see about 80% gpu usage at that res.
