I've been thinking about another 7870 actually different brand though. And tigerdirect would have sent out a new one right away but I had to pay for it up front then get the money back once they rmaed the one I sent so I opted just to rma it. Plus with the price drop a 7950 is almost the same price.

edit: did some comparing and 6970 and a 7870 performance wise are almost exaclty the same.

And where I come from the 6970 is cheaper. Wouldn't you rather have their flagship card instead of an 7 series entry card with immature drivers.

The 7850 shows a slight increase in performance over 6950 - but that's just very little. Plus, OP says price doesn't matter. Furthermore what's the point of getting a previous flagship if the current "mid range" is on par or maybe better?

I agree only downside is power use and I'm not worried about that i have a good case for cooling and a 850w psu. Hmm only new one i can find that is a brand i'd buy is a 6970 msi lighting on new egg. It's the same price as a 7950 though. 399$.

edit: I thought of another downside, I may want to crossfire/sli later and finding another 6970 later is going to prove difficult I think.

2nd edit: You know if nvidia would get they're heads out of they'er perverbal asses and release something when they actually have some supply I would have bought a 680 and not been in this deliema, this of course makes me want to buy amd even more.

If you can get it for cheap, it would be a strong and solid setup. Personally I would look into GTX 570 SLI or 7950 CFX smile.gif

Graphic card, just get a 560 Ti or a 460 Hawk and you will be fine, its more about the CPU.

The OP said he's playing some WoW as well and a 5770 won't be enough to run WoW at max settings nowadays imo. Don't get a 5770 since it's an old and not enough anymore. You should return or RMA the 7870. It's a great card, yours is probably just a bad one.

I did rma it, was a twin frozr too. Now I'm just poking aorund trying to find a decent setup/cost build. So let me just get what i want to spend/acheive out there. About 500 ish tops, so im looking at two mid cards or one top end card. Would like to max games I play in 1440p if possible. I'm not worried about the heat and it would be interesting to do a water cooled setup eventually anyhow.

Again I appreciate all the feedback, they are jsut so many options right now hard to pick one.
