well are they? i am thinking to forkout and get a z 680 or z5500 but i see many people complaining or mentioning that logitech speakers DONT have tweeters thus the sound sucks for everything else but gaming? I want it for gaming, music and watching movies mainly. so need some suggestions and first and advice from experience with the logitechs and the tweeter issue would also be appreciated. biggrin.gif

If you can get either set for like $150 I think it would be worth it.

I got my Z-5500s for $220 on launch week from Dell back in 2005. When they first came out they were selling for about 50% msrp but now that nobody really buys them anymore and production has halted. The remaining inventory is basically just sitting around at msrp prices.

The Z680s had the best speakers, followed by the Z-5500s, and Z-906, in that order.

thanks astralite smile.gif so do you reckon I should get the z680s over the z5500? since i hear the z906 sucks kinda? or should i build my own with something like Sony TA-AV561 receiver with it's original center and rear speakers and maybe pair it with the Sony MHC-RG495?

i can get the logitecs for around $150 - $160 and maybe the other Sony stuff around $100. Downside i can think of as mentioned in the other thread in the home theater forum was that the logitech offers 3 outputs green, rear and center while the home theater mostly only offers a single green cable opposed to the 3 cables in a logitec or other computer speakers?

The satellite speakers are better on the Z-680s; the sub might be better on the Z-5500s.

Building your own is a better idea IMO. Your Sony idea definitely sounds better than the Logitechs.
