USB Splitter on Mouse and Keyboard

Thread Starter
I have to computers that I use for gaming. One for primary gaming, and the other for a back up. Is there a USB splitter that I can use to use my mouse and keyboard for both computers without having to unplug them each time? Will a splitter cause more input lag?

i think you will run into usb connect/disconnect issues. look into a cheap kvm switch

Yep, you want a KVM switch (Keyboard, Video, Mouse Switch), well, actually you want a KM switch but I'm not sure there are any. You can't split USB, the switch will switch the USB devices to one PC or the other, not both at the same time.

Don't listen to them, just get some scissors and cut the cord in half (hot dog style, not hamburger. That will just ruin it.) Then plug half in. Now, one one computer only the left half will work, and the other computer will only run with the right.

But seriously, here: http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Cable-Switch-Audio-GCS72U/dp/B002K0TU2C

Sorry, feeling snarky.

It is possible what you want.
I am a hardware & Firmware Engineer.
A few month ago, I made a new product what USB Barcode Scanner Splitter.
It is working on USB keyboard also.
It can be split USB HID Keyboard data to multiple PC at the same time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efs6DaTFLto

About USB Mouse... It is possible also.
First, handle received relative coordinate mouse data.
And convert into absolute coordinate data, then can solve mouse sync problem.

This kind of product is not common, So can not found anywhere.
In my case I developed this product by my customer's requirement.

There are also software KVMs. I used to use one, i think synchronicity. You run the server on the computer with the physical mouse/keybard and client on the other one. They have to be networked, and you need a monitor for each comp. It worked well for me. You could switch by hotkey or just mouse past a monitor edge, like a multiple monitor screen. These can support more than 2 computers.
