PLEASE HELP!. PSU dead?!

OK, so today, I might of been tinkering with my PSU. I chopped off a few cables that were unnessecary and sleeved them all individually etc.
When i put it back in, the computer refuses to power on, however, when mashing the power button and flicking the switch on the psu gives random pulses of life. We're talking microseconds here, just enough for a quick fan flash or the keyboard ked. Did i completely **** my system up?.

any help is mega appreciated!.

Pull the PSU and test it using a paper clip method (see diagram), full instructions Here. If it doesn't fire up, you cut out something you shouldn't have. If it does fire up, recheck all your connections, then install it.

Hi,

It did fire up with the jumper method. However, It refused to start plugged into the computer until I rewired the 12v CPU connector. However now the computer starts up, the bios screen comes up, but it just turns off, and the keyboard is dead too. I'm suspecting something is still wired wrong?. Possibly the +4 on the ATX 24 pin connector?.

if you had it pinned wrong and tried to start it multiple time it means you have sent power or grounded something that was not meant to be. go hear and verify you have everything right, then try again. if it still don't work then try with a known working psu. if that dont work then you might have cooked your mobo.

Ok. I got it all sorted. Was nothing to do with the chopped cables obviously. First off, I made some stupid mistakes. The +4 was intially wired wrong. So the mobo refused to fire into life. Once I was certain that was wired correctly. I attempted to boot with just the 24 pin, and low and behold it started. As soon as i plugged in the 4+4 12v cpu connector, it would fail again. Using just one cured it, so i figured I wired the other one wrong too. Turns out I did. So, with it all wired up, the PC booted, but just showed the intial POST screen before restarting, keyboard was dead too. Turns out the bios corrupted, so a simple CMOS clear and battery removal sorted that. All back to normal.P phew!

All in all. I was a total fool, should have payed more attention!. Crisis averted and I'm a lucky boy.
