Appeal to authority? What? What a stupid post.

"Appeal to authority?" What am I requesting of authority? Who is the authority? Or are you trying to say that I'm the authority? If I'm the authority, then what do you think the word "appeal" means? Your statement is absolutely meaningless in the context of my post, so let's try the second sentence.

You launch an ad hominem attack against fans of the Crysis series immediately after complaining about hyperbole and a "straw man" up there ^ (#74).

You're doing this all wrong.

Amazingly not everyone is going to like or dislike the same things! GASP! rolleyes.gif. To me Crysis 2 was a fantastic game every bit as good as the original and it doesn't really matter whether you guys agree with me or not...

wth.gif You serious? Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy but your comments seem to be taking that phrase literally.

Your 'appeal to authority' was you trying to assume that those who did not agree with you were people who jumped in to Crysis with Crysis 2 first. You're obviously inferring you have more experience and knowledge of the Crysis franchise and your opinion and those who shared it, carried more weight because you all were 'original fans'.

No i did not. I did not dispel any valid logical arguments by attacking anyone personally. What I said was a result of talking about the game on this very forum for months before and after the release. In fact, you can see some of those same complaints on this very thread. Maybe if you had been around in March when the game launched you'd know what the general consensus was. Many people were happy with the game but those that weren't were the ones that wanted it to push the limits of what was capable, graphically.

People like you were more concerned about random floating trash or what Dx version it was using than if the game was fun. Many more openly complained that they had paid $xxx to max out Crysis and their GPU purchase wasn't necessary. Since we can see what GPUs people are running, it was easy to see those that were 'outraged' were more commonly the ones who vastly overspent on GPUs in anticipation of Crysis 2.

It's great you like to OC and upgrade your GPU to see how much better you can run an older game but game makers make the games to PLAY, not to be benchmarks.
If you feel i'm coming off as desperate then you're just a hypocrite b/c we don't share the same views. I doubt you'd see the others on this thread continually bashing a game that's over a year old as desperate to justify it as a bad game....
And these days yes, good games still need defending b/c people are too busy crying over everything EXCEPT if the game was fun or not.

You quoted me so how could you not be responding to me? Did you just choose to ignore the part where I said I also liked the game? Don't try to deflect onto another topic when something legitimate is presented to you. The point was being made to your post about your "pc elitists who wanted to justify their completely unnecessary $600 gpu purchase"comment. If you want to talk about why games are made go ahead and start a pointless discussion thread somewhere else.
The term hypocrite does not even apply here. Usually the term is used as a cover when someone has run out of points in an argument...
What makes YOU sound desperate is repeated nonsense posts defending Crysis2. Which is funny because even the dev's are admitting it had many flaws in how it went away from the first one.

Good games sell and/or develop a good reputation. End of story.

You're right, I quoted a few people but couldn't see it well enough on my phone.

It's not deflecting because it's part of the main issue. Some people wanted Crysis 2 to be like Crysis 1, which is to say they wanted next gen graphics that you couldn't max out without some ultra GPU solution and purchased system parts in anticipation. The problem is that it doesn't benefit a Dev to make a game that is so advanced that the avg PC gamer can't max for a year b/c it affects the budget and the starting sales. It gives the game longevity but older games are also sold at a fraction of the original cost.

To attack me for defending said game while saying nothing of those attacking the game is hypocritical. Side A & B are basically doing the same thing but you're bashing side A because your views align with side B.

Repeated nonsense...ok give me an example.

I could always have missed something on Crysis 3 b/c I don't really start paying attention to a game until it's around 2 months before launch, but where did the Dev admit it had flaws in Crysis 2? It seems like the article assumed quite a lot b/c the only thing we get in quotes from Cevat is : “Crysis3 will be more a spiritual successor in gameplay to Crysis 1 instead of Crysis 2”.

And even if Cevat was to say something about a mistake, how does that weaken my position? My position is that it was a great game. I loved it. I loved the MP but it got taken over by hackers instantly. Would it have been better as a sandbox? Possibly, but Crysis 1 wasn't a true sandbox anyways so it's a moot point.

But we're not even arguing that point. You're just stating the obvious.

I don't think so if we would get the same huge jungle environment back in Crysis 3 since its just a transformed city packed inside a dome. Hopefully the gameplay would offer a much better sandbox approach over Crysis 2 (No more sewers tongue.gif)

Yeah, no more sewers x10. I still don't get the impression that Crysis 1 was one giant open jungle. It was anything but. Sure, it SEEMED like a wide open jungle. It was just like most every other FPS but its 'corridors' were like 3x as wide as they'd normally be.

Another Crysis game I will buy for $12 from a random member or key site.

They will have to show that the series is restored to the quality of the original before I pay a dime more.
I had fun in C2 but the quality was a step back. Crysis is represents the best of the best in PC gaming. I expect better.
