always keep the cpu underclocked when doing that..and make sure your IMC (cpu/nb) and HT link are
within acceptable limits as well
Read gappo's guide..I think rdr already linked it..The order is important.
yea i read gappos guide..that's why i ask for super 32m he used it to find the ram limit.....so hyper-pi is for multi-core cpus?

well even tho gappos guide suggest super pi 32m i'll try intel burn test if i got issues with super pi....;/

it'll work good! biggrin.gif :thumb.gif:
I was gonna write a guide like gappos..I think I posted it..and someone linked me to his..posted 2 days earlier :lachen.gif:
Hey..It's all the same stuff basically..get the RAM right..see how high fsb goes..see how high IMC(cpu/nb) goes..check how high HT link goes with stability..and that's it in a nutshell
that and recommended voltages
1.2625 for HT link
1.26 for NB
1.375 is usually good enough for IMC..can go up to vcore voltage..generally not necessary.
2-3 bumps over RAM suggested voltage
NB 1.8=1.9
SB..eh..up to 1.15
cpu vdda=auto

how to set ram timings: lower the 4 settings cL,trcd, trp, tras) 1 setting at a time.one notch at a time .lower it..reboot..see if post..lower 1 more..reboot..etc..until you don't POST..then go back to the last one that worked..this will put you in the ballpark

As for vcore..That's up to you..Thuban..I'd say <1.56
deneb <1.62

well for that..you get Hyper-pi..'cause it stresses all the cores..and do 32M
1m,4m, and 32m is all you'll ever need to do..
Monitor your temps with HWmonitor
psst..IBT is faster biggrin.gif
once it errors..back your OC down 2-3 notches..
unless you're benching..add more vcore ph34r-smiley.gif

ummm..is it okay if the cool 'n quiet optin in bios is greyed out? it says 'enabled' but the option is greyed out so i can't change the option to 'disabled'.

i already disabled c1e supprot and cpu/chassis q fan funciton

for IBT:

what stress level do i do? standard? high? maximum?

How many threads do I do? ALL? Auto? 6?

dang My ram overclock is Prime95 unstable even tho they're IBT stable...to get it stable i know i need to increase the ram voltage. would the cpu/nb voltage help too or shall i just keep incresaing ram voltage until it's stable?

Here are my ram settings in chronological order:

Ram speed: 1600-1760Mhz @ 1.49V
CPU speed: 2970Mhz
NB/HT speed: 1980Mhz
FSB: 220

Ram speed: 1768-1784Mhz @ 1.58V
CPU speed: 2899Mhz~
NB/HT speed: 2007Mhz~
FSB: 221-223

Ram speed: 1792Mhz @ 1.63V
CPU speed: 2912Mhz
NB/HT speed: 2016Mhz
FSB: 224

Ram speed: 1800Mhz @ 1.70V
CPU speed: 2925Mhz
NB/HT speed: 2025Mhz
FSB: 225

Here is what i did:

According to Intel Burn Test, all my ram overclocks above are STABLE. FYI, I did 'very high' stress level, all cores, 5 loops. it lasts around 19 minutes each session.

I ended my benchmarking @ 1800mhz @ 1.70V and the voltage was getting near 1.75V!

i like this setting . . .

Ram speed: 1768-1784Mhz @ 1.58V IBT stable
CPU speed: 2899Mhz~
NB/HT speed: 2007Mhz~
FSB: 221-223

do not go over 1.65v unless for benching. everyday use you would not see a huge difference between 1600 and 1800.

our rams are class 9 and are fairly difficult to oc due to weaker internals. this is just me . . . after i find the best ram settings i set it back to stock and work on the cpu oc'ing (pulls more weight), then after that is set i reset my ram oc setting and test.

you should be happy to get the above stable settings but you can continue if want BUT do not go over 1.65v for 7/24.

EDIT: btw, what failed in Prime?

ok thanx they all failed on prime 95 unstable...i just need to find a way to keep them stable before i move on to the other overclocks...keep upping the voltages until they're stable i gueess

btw...some of those FSB clocks above would cause the NB/HBT speed to go above 2200 or below 2000... the fsb must be 220 or 223 in order to stay in between those numbers which is what i prefer....anywya is it better to have htem over 2200 or under 2000

1600mhz @ 1.65v 8-9-9-25-1 unstable

if can lower the timings further, what order do i lower the timings?

cl trcd trp tras trc

for example do i keep lowering cl till it's unstable, or do the other timings one at a time?
