Help choosing a high performance air cpu cooler compatible with Corsair Vengeance RAM kits

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Hello there,been gathering some components to almost fully replace my very old rig,and already have in my power a 16GB dual channel kit of Corsair Vengeance Ram.
For the CPU cooler was thinking about a Noctua NH-D14 but after a little researching seems the cooler is too big to fit the RAM's underneath,can someone recomend me some coolers around the same performance as the NH-D14 that might be compatible with that particular set of RAM?
And no,i don't want no wc atm,not enough budget and knowledge for that yet,mostly budge issues ^^

Change your RAM. very, very few can fit with bulky 55mm high Vengeance sticks.

You could also consider any Corsair closed loop (all in one) water cooler, they perform as well sometimes better in cases and the ram clearance is not an issue

Check them out Here

agreed with dustin88 if you have the money for a D14 you will have enough for a corsair solution will certainly do the job .

@Jesse
Was trying t avoid that if possible,even tough theyre still unboxed :/

@Dustin
I looked at those first tbh,but read a couple times here on OCN since then that side by side with top performance air coolers,theyre similar while beeing more expensive.

You could always remove the bulky vengeance heatsinks.

well i have used high end air coolers, and against my H-100 ill take it over anything, the reason being is it works well, its got a 5 year warranty, and i prefer not to have a heavy heatsink and 2 fans hanging off my motherboard, especially blocking m internals, as i like a clean case, this is just ME tho, many opinions are needed in this. and unless you get ahold of 2 high end silent fans, then the performance isnt the best

and i prefer the quietness of the closed loop coolers.

Might have to consider one of the closed loop ones then,tbh was the first ones i tought about,the only issue was that i still gotta wait 1 month before i get a new case,and my current one is like 10 years old and in no way ready for that without some modding ^^
So il either wait till i get my new case or start hacking my old one,could always use the practice,ty for the help guys.

I have Vengence High Profile and they fit fine with the Hyper 212 EVO cooler.

Also if you go with X79 MB then some come with 8 slots for RAM, if you go with 4 chips then you actually start with second slot so even more coolers will then work with Vengence when not using nearest DDR slot.
