PC Gaming Headset

Thread Starter
Looking to get a new headset for the PC as im now starting to take PC gaming seriously and its going to become my main platform very soon. Don't have the greatest rig but it does what i need for now and hopefully will continue to do so for a good year until i decide to make another build.

Anyway's im looking for a cheap, good quality headset. Have a budget of around £40, know its not a lot but hopefully we can find something. Had a look on eBay and found these.

Might sound a little sad but it needs to have the "Look" of a gaming headset (Personal Preference). I have a pair of X11's for the Xbox and im able to hear across the map, looking for something similar for PC. I have considered using the headset on PC which i have done but doesn't feel right, picks up every little noise which is very annoying for anyone speaking to me on TeamSpeak.

Look forward to your suggestions.

Ben

The gamecom isn't too bad, pretty well built, sounds good, and reasonably comfortable. I had one before moving to my razor cacharias.

I use the Corsair HS1A when I need a headset (use speakers and other mic most of the time). I have found it to be a remarkably good headset for the money (£35). Very comfortable, with acceptable sound quality and the mic never fails me unlike most headsets i've used.

If you want real audio quality the best thing you can do is pick up a pair of headphones and a mic. For £40, you could probably snag the JVC RX700's and the Zalman clip on mic. I forget if they are available where you are, but I'm pretty sure they are. The RX700's are the kings of the sub $50 market, and with out a doubt well worth the cash for entry level audiophile audio quality. They don't necessarily excel at any one aspect of audio, but they are good in all of them. That's just how I've heard them described, no first hand experience with them. That's my recommendation for that budget. If you really want to have clear audio, you'll also need a sound card. The cheapest one I know of is the Asus Xonar DG, and in America, it's $25. It's a great sound card for the cash and is miles better than onboard audio.
