Btw. FXAA in Witcher 2 is just amazing. Its practically free ubersampling.

In terms of jaggie reduction fxaa is just fine. That's not my problem with it though. Texture quality goes out the window and it makes the whole scene smudgy. That's my issue with post process AA. With MSAA based results everything is sharp and clean. May not be as 'movie like' but I like my video game lines sharp as a razor.

While that is true, I believe that SMAA does not have that smudging quality to the game. FXAA does though.

I think SMAA has the most potential but I'd like it to get more support past the user made injectors. I think it works great in some games but I was trying it out in BF3 for awhile and it actually gave me artifacts.

Same here. Would love to see SMAA be in the graphic options. Prefer the sharpness over FXAA. I had to take SMAA off because of those artifacts, damn. Happens with the 12.4 beta not sure if it does with the older drivers. But older ATI drivers show weird textures in BF3, like someone took a knife scraped that crap out of it.

I'm just thinking that if we're comparing fps.....

FXAA refuses to show when doing full screen. No clue why. Nvidia needs to fix that, or allow some sort of screen shot fxaa utility.

That's because FXAA is a post-processing effect, done right before the image hits the screen, not earlier. Hence screenshots don't do anything.

I think that Witcher 2's antialiasing is PPAA+Added Sharpness. Very custom finetuned. Looks beautiful the way they did it. Now if we can find out what exactly the settings where, then maybe we can apply that to all of our games.

"The game uses a custom post-process form of AA which does a good job of reducing jagged lines with a moderate performance hit"

-Nvidia's Geforce Optimization Guide.

http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/witcher-2-tweak-guide/#6

To think that CD Projeckt Red could make PostProcessing Antialiasing look so good while only dropping the frames by 5. That right there is an achievement.

8_1-Antialiasing-Off.jpg

8_2-Antialiasing-On.jpg

Cd Projekt Red should release their form of post process anti aliasing for use on all games, whether if its an injector or a utility.
