[NW] Microsoft files patent for two-sided smartphone display (video)

The design would have a regular high-powered touch screen on the front of the smartphone, along with a low-powered screen on the back of the case. The rear screen could be used to display a variety of information. For example, it could become an eInk screen for people to read texts more clearly than on the front screen of a smartphone.

Old flip phones have similar layout. LOL MS innovation ftw.

While there are many other dual display phones already, what sets Microsoft’s application apart is that it would use as much of the back surface of the phone as possible, including even curling over the sides.

We can't keep the battery life up on a single-display smartphone, so how in the world are we going to do it with 2 screens?

We can max out latest games with a 7970, so lets just give up and halt all future gpu's production because things will stay like that for the next 1,000 years thumb.gif

Cool. I'd like that one day.

Also, can we please keep 1 thread clean these days ? First page and we're already going down that road...

Tell that to the OP that has been relentless with this stuff over the last week or so. I can understand having a thing for a brand and such, but getting all over people who say even the slightest thing (and misconstruing half of it) is just sad. Don't want to see it anymore than I wanna see someone riding another persons testicles.

Girl is promiscuous and the guy is a Pedobear.

Great. Also, the phone is so very Nokia shaped.

Not quite sure what you mean by getting all over someone. He didn't do anything wrong at all, I read no animosity in his statements, looks like a simple conversation to me, which is what forums are about. You on the other hand...

Considering how fragile most smartphones are, this seems like a horrible idea. I wouldn't consider using a smartphone without a case, as one drop and it's toast.
