EASY/CHEAP LED Case Lighting..... - Page 32

For the Desk, I put one metre of blue LEDs under each of the long desk sections connected by a strip at the bend in the table. I placed them at the back of the desk.

As for the monitor, I put a three strip of blue (9 LEDs) horizontally at the bottom of the monitor with a 5 strip of purple (15 LEDs) horizontally at the top for a fading effect against the wall. I was unable to do the purple justice in any of the photos, but it looks fantastic against the wall.

Thanks for the inspiration Alieninvasion. My red and black theme. Wish I could afford a new desk. This one has seen better days.

....a better wallpaper.

Mounted.

Al Capone loved this stuff.....it's good stuff if you like Rye.

Im planning on getting this LED strip http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GL5R56/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AJ0QRPX8ADNI1 and i know you have to get those wires to connect the strips, and the soldering tin ? and... some sort of adapter to connect the led strips to a 4pin molex ? I was looking at the pictures but and it looks like something easy i can do myself; but can someone link me where i can get these other things like wires/tin and stuff for cheap? even on ebay?

You will need:

- a soldering iron, small pencil type or a cheap one with a nice base/holder (about $15-20)
- 60/40 lead/tin rosin core solder (standard electronics solder) DO NOT use acid core plumbing solder!!
- a molex extension to cut up

Thank you! What is the connecting wire called ? If i were to walk into a store and ask for some, what are they called ? And are there different kinds of wires ? Am i suppose to get a certain sizing?

If you have an old fan or any old molex connectors to sacrifices, those are ideal for wiring and free. Just cut lengths of wire off an use them. I have a few meters of black and red wire in a box that I have kept over the years.

I was able to get a soldering iron, a set of helping hands, and some 60/40 lead/tin all together for around 18 bucks on amazon.

18-20 gauge primary wire is what you want to ask for.
