Will GK110's 512 bit memory bus benefit from PCI-e 3.0?

I have seen some posts showing that their is a slight performance gain when the GTX 680 utilizes PCI-e 3.0. Wouldn't the larger memory bus (sorry if thats the wrong term) of GK110 therefore see a larger peformance increase?

More bandwidth doesn't mean anything if the card doesn't need more to perform good.

PCIe 3.0 is mostly useful when you need ridiculous amounts of data transferred every second.

Edit: as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) there are no GPU's available right now that can fully saturate a PCIE 2.0 x16 lane~

The card's memory bus width has nothing to do with PCI-E revision/bandwidth or any else for that matter, except for the card's memory bandwidth at a given memory speed.

No single card to be sure, but very high end multi-GPU setups may well be bottlenecked by even a 16x 2.0 slot.

Hard to test though, as few board have three or four full 16x slots.

Not particularly, even cards on a 256 bus are breaking 150+ GB/sec bandwidth for RAM on the card itself.

The main benefit is where PCIE 2.0 16x has a bandwidth of 8 GB/sec, which is lower than any of the high end system RAM bandwidth situation of any modern system. System RAM to VRAM transfers will be slightly improved with double the bandwidth available (16 GB/sec).

People say PCIE X16 2.0 will not bottleneck but the case its that more bandwidth is needed the higher the resolution.

Just like w/all bottleneck related questions, this answer will always depend on the particular game, the settings, as well as the exact hardware in question ... but I think it's unlikely that 16x 2.0 will be a significant bottleneck (i.e. >5% or so) on anything short of a 7990 or equivalent, and even then it'll only be on certain games at certain settings.
