Builds for $4500 and $1500

I am planning on the WhiteRose build in my sig. the budget for that is around 4500 bux, and if possible can someone tell me any upgrades? also my friend needs a cheap build for himself, and asked me for help. I planned on:

-i5 2500k
-Asus P8Z77-V
-CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B (Corsair Vengeance 16GB)
-Corsair H80
-Crucial M4 64GB
-Corsair AX750
-Corsair Obsidian 650D
-LG 22X DVD

these total to $1,018.52 shipped, without rebates. after rebates totals to $983.52. Then, there is the gtx680 which will be 500 bucks (Evga of course). then the final price is $1491.07 again shipped. He said he already has a 1TB drive so that is it. Any comments? Also an advice for $4500 would be awesome also:p i still havent decided it yet.

I would go for a 128 crucial, i got a 64in my laptop and its almost full. You could ditch the DVD and just use the 128gb m4.

and PLEASE dump that corsair ram and just get the samsung low voltage:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3V4G3D-US/dp/B00592002W

These go from 1600mhz @ 1.35v up to 2133mhz+ on 1.45v+.
You dont need the heatsinks, theyre pure for the looks.

You said you are looking for ideas on a $4500 build? If so:

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115079 (i7 990x Extreme)
Motherboard: 1366 socket
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568 (G.Skill Ripjaws X)
PSU: Anything over 700w + modular
Case: NZXT has some of the best cases IMO
GPU: 2x GTX 680 2GB

EDIT: You could buy a 2CPU Mo/Bo for around $550 from EVGA Classified and run two 990x if you wanted. and for GPU I would recommend going SLI GTX 680's since you have the cash. I mean with that kind of budget, you really do not have any limits on building a very high-end PC.

????

Why 990X? why should anyone invest in a legacy socket/CPU that costs more than a BETTER and CHEAPER CPU like a 3930k?

he should get this
3930k - $600
MSI XPOWER II or Rampage IV Extreme- $350
256 GB Samsung 830 SSD - $380
2x WD Velociraptors 1TB 10,000 RPM HDD RAID0 - $600
3x GTX 680- $1500
NZXT SWITCH 810 $160
32GB RAM - $200
1000W PSU - $180
Win 7 Pro - $130
Cutom loop Water cooling $500

TOTAL ~~~ $4500

If you want save your friend money or let him spend on some better peripherals, drop one of the Samsung RAM kits (8GB is already overkill for gaming) and replace the case + PSU with either:

An Antec Sonata III ($115)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=24294&vpn=SONATA%20III%20500&manufacture=Antec
(Yes, virtually all cases that come with PSUs come with crap PSUs. The Sonatas are the exception: they come with genuine quality power supplies.

or

Antec Earthwatts 430w or 650w ($40-60 @ newegg)
+
haf 912 ($52 at us.ncix.com, dunno newegg, server just went down)

& replace the CPU cooler with a Coolermaster 212+ (<$30 at us.ncix.com) or, even quieter, the Thermalright HR-02 Macho ($53). Air coolers are better in terms of price/performance and cost/performance than closed-loop water. An HR-02 is more than strong enough to let you overclock to your heart's content.
http://www.amazon.com/ThermalRight-HR-02-MACHO-Thermalright-Macho/dp/B005ERSN7G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335122492&sr=8-1

Those changes should perform just as well (well, it's a bit of a downgrade in terms of case) but save about $225. If you're sold on the case, just replace the PSU with one of the Antecs I listed for considerable savings.

Oh, and with only one video card he could save another $50 on mobo without dropping performance with an:
MSI Z77A-G43
or Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H

If he's playing on a 1920x1080 monitor, he'd probably be nearly as happy with an overclocked 7950, which would save another $100 if the money matters to him.

For you, you might want to look at 3x 7970s if you're playing on 5760x1080 resolution on greater for larger amount of VRAM, and better availability.

There's really not a whole lot of difference between the 3930k and the 3960x, so I suggest that you go with the 3930k and use $400 elsewhere.
