GTX "470" for 2560x1440

Thread Starter
I currently have a V243H monitor which is a 24 inch 1920x1080p monitor and i run games like SSFIV at max settings and get 300 fps in benchmark also a consistent 60 FPS in Diablo 3 on max settings.

I was planning on getting one of those Korean IPS 2560 × 1440 panels to run along side with my V243H as a 2nd monitor. So 1440p = main, 1080p = 2nd
My question is that can i run 2560x1440 on my current games with decent fps? + Use my 2nd monitor? I was wondering if i could hook the 1440p monitor to my gtx 470 and the 2nd monitor to my integrated HD 3000 would that help? or would it even work?

Here are the specs of my main components :
-Intel Core i7 2600K LGA 1155 Boxed Processor
- GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard
-Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800)
-OCZ GameXStream Power Supply 1010W
-PNY XLR8 GeForce GTX 465 Graphics card - 1 GB - GDDR5 SDRAM unlocked to a GTX 470.

Thanks!

The integrated GPU doesn't quite work like that and wouldn't help, you should get decent FPS, I was able to max out just about every game with my sig rig (SLI 470's on 2560 x 1600) so you should be able to get decent fps on higher settings smile.gif Just don't crank that AA all the way and youll be fine thumb.gif

im not a big v ram homer but at 1 gb v ram and a older gen card its gonna be tight .. some games will run fine others ....another half gig or gig could be the difference between like 9 fps or 50. That being said it really depends what your playing.

As said above the only major trade off will be you cant FULLY max out all games just watch your detail settings and see what works

You can use LucidVirtu's software to make your IGP work like you want it to.

First problem is 1280MB vRAM will be limiting and also 1 x GTX470 is not enough power for 2560x1440. For Example take BF3. Probably have to go Medium and under to be playable.

Just keep AA off and your fine. AA is what drives your VRAM usage up like crazy.
