what 754? sempy or 64

Thread Starter
got an old rig that i'm selling to a friend. only the cpu is dead. so he said i'll buy a new one. so he's trusted me to find one and he hands over the cash.
I'm wondering if i should get a 3000+/3200+ 64 or get a sempy. I've never had a sempy so i dnt know how they perform. I will be overclocking the rig for him before hand. I know that the 64s have the 512kb cache where the sempys have 256kb (not gettin 128Kb, thats too little). Its more of a general purpose pc so i don't know if the extra cache will be of that much benefit or if a higher speed would do him(dependingon how sempys oc of course). the restof the rig is as follows:
Msi K8N neo Platinum
1Gb of Ram (prob kingston value)
Colorsit PSU 550w
Radeon 9600 XT agp 8x (gonna be sorry to see her go )

so what would be better a 64 or a sempy? cheers

I use a sempy, I would say to Definetly get him a 64, it will do a lot better.

My Sempron 3400+ in my server (yeah, not a great server chip but whatever...) is the 1st Sempron to have a 64-bit architecture. It is, however, a S939, so I don't know about 754. Google it!

EDIT:
Try this link:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/Default.aspx
You'll need to choose some of the specs in the pull- (or drop- ?) down boxes; I chose Type: Sempron and Socket: 754
It says that all S754 Semprons have an "Operating Mode" of 32/64, which can really only mean x86-64.
