It'll be a quad-core i7-3610QM Ivy Bridge chip calling the shots, with a 2GB NVIDIA GTX 660M providing graphical backup

I recently purchased a G53sw, and so far have been pleased with it. Now that I see what it's successor looks like, I am even more pleased. I wonder if the GPU on the G55 is faster than a 460m that has a wider bus?

660m is not enough to handle most recent games, I am more interested in the 675m or the 680m.
For the same price you can get a backlit keyboard msi 17 or 15inch with dyn speakers and a 670, or 675m which is far better than the 660m this is not a great deal.

The 660m is capable of great gaming performance at laptop resolutions.

1920x1080p?
Which is what this laptop ships with. The 660 is not that much better than the 560m which is like the equivelant of about a gt 450 in a pc which is not good enough for 1080p
I know I have a 555m in my laptop and it doesnt even get that great fps at 720p so this laptop at 1080p sporting a 660m isnt going to do that great.

Back when I had my Asus G72 with a gtx 260m, I could play Skyrim on high settings at 1600x900 with minimum 50-55 fps. I think this 660m will do nicely!

Specs and backlit keyboards are not all that matter in a laptop. I'd go with Asus over MSI any day because of the build quality. Asus has a really good cooling system for the laptop, and the MSI laptops are pretty cheaply made. One of my friends has one, he's been having issues with it basically since day one. Recently the power connector is acting up and it won't charge correctly. When it does charge, it shuts down due to overheating, even at idle.

by spec it almost looks like the 660m is equivalent to a GTX560....based off specs...
