What processor can I upgrade to? (currently have an AMD C-60) - Page 3

I went from an OCZ agility 3, to a Corsair Force 3, and I regret it everytime I turn on my computer. The OCZ felt much snappier navigating through windows. (Atto showed faster speeds at all file sizes) As far as reliability, I still have my original Agility 1(indilix) in a laptop now, and that thing is as fast as ever. I would highly recommend one! thumb.gif

I too would like to see proof of OCZ being unreliable.

Haha yea basically ronnin. I want to thank all of you for the advice it really helped me out. I think I'm gonna splurge and spend the extra $20 to get the Vertex 4. Even though its brand new there are nothing but good reviews and it comes with a 5-year warranty.

Again want to thank all of the OCNers who took the time out to give me advice.

I agree with ACHILEE5, your best option for speeding up the system is an SSD. The new Vertex 4 seems pretty good but the tried and true reliable SSDs are the Crucial M4 and Samsung 830. If it doesn't have at least 4GB of RAM I'd upgrade that as well. Upgrading the APU is not possible with the Brazos platform because the APU is actually soldered to the motherboard, so there is no way to swap it out. That is why you can't find how to buy just the APU because AMD does not sell them to consumers that way (at least not for Bobcat based APUs on the Brazos platform, Llano is a different story on the desktop but even laptops with a Llano APU might be soldered). Intel is the same way with their Atom, they solder the chip to the motherboard to save space and money.

Don't listen to the OCZ haters their comments are simply "unreliable".

edit: In all honesty though I do remember quite a few comments about SSD's failing a lot when they first came out and many people suggesting raptors over SSD's on various forums. A friend of mine had an original Vortex crap itself on him as well.

Good call on upgrading the RAM while he's in there thumb.gif
IDK how much RAM his netbook can support! But I did max out my RAM when I added the SSD smile.gif

It actually came with 4 GB RAM, so it is already maxed out there, which is nice. Still sucks that they don't allow ultramodding to netbooks, guess that's what I get for being a poor college student.

MrPerforations, that may diminish the portability capability of the netbook just a bit lol.
