Cooler Master 692 II Build - Page 2

I've been playing around a bit with sleeves on the water tubes. The original black rubber looks ok, but I want to see if I can make them stand out a bit more.

Only experimental mock up, it's not done properly yet.

Original:

383

Medium size:

467

Really fat:

401

Not sure which one I like best, maybe something between the medium and fat.

Also ordered some sleeved power extensions for mb and graphics. I could have tried to do it myself, but right now the custom fan controller build is keeping me busy.

I think I would prefer the medium but in black or red.

Agree on both medium and that it would be nice to try out a few more colors before making the final choice.

My original plan was to keep it very simple with as much white and black as possible, but maybe I should go for more of a ROG theme.

I'm thinking of experimenting with some LED spotlights, not sure how effective they will be in changing colors or how focused I can make them, but white should be the best base color to change.

Also planned is a back-plate/cover for the GPU card, not too happy with how it looks today.

While I'm waiting for parts for both this build and my custom controller build, I've been thinking about doing a back plate for my gpu card. I don't really like the current look too much:

299

So I want to try see if I can make something like this:

264

Took some time to find a font that looks like the original Radeon font, the one I'm using here is called Zero Twos, if anyone is interested.

I was thinking black with white text. Text should either be embossed or cut out. No sure how much ventilation the back side needs.

Did a bit of low tech testing on how hot the back of GPU card gets under load. It get's really hot, devil.gif so I don't think a closed back plate will be a good idea. I'll have to go with cut out letters, maybe I can install a mesh in them or something, just need to be careful not to short out the card. worriedsmiley.gif

I've removed the bottom hard drive trays and installed a couple of 140mm Xigmatek intake fans. They are nice fans, but until my controller build is complete they are running full speed and a bit noisy. also the whole crystal w/led design doesn't fit very well in my build. So I think I want to paint them a flat black and remove the LEDs. Only problem is that these fans seem to have a sealed bearing.

350

Anyone know how to take them apart? I really don't want to drill a hole in them, I'm sure that would shorten their lifespan. Maybe I'll just try paint one as is and see how it looks.

Got some sleeved power extension cables in the mail today:

441

They look very nice. I didn't do them myself.

Now I just need to install them, that should be straight forward.

Looks nice. Where did you buy the case? None of the big places seem to have it.

Thanks. I bought the case in a small local shop. (Not US based, I'm in Asia at the moment)

I have to say it's the best case I've ever had. (Ok, I've mostly had some pretty crappy cases in the past rolleyes.gif) but I highly recommed this case.

Maybe someone can comment on general availability of this case? I can't imagine it's not widely available. The CM 690 series seems to be very popular.

Installed the GPU card power cables, imo it's a nice improvement:

I just need to make that backplate for the GPU card.
