GTS250 and 9800GT on CrossFire mobo - possible?

Thread Starter
I'm not familiar with graphic cards, so I'm new to this SLI/CrossFire thing.
My mobo (sig rig) is an ECS X58B-A2, which supports CrossFire X.
Someone I know is giving me his used GTS250, and I'm going to pick it up about 2 weeks later, but I wanted to know if a CrossFire setup is possible with my existing 9800GT and the will-be-mine GTS250.

thanks in advance!

Ati is crossfire
Nvidia is Sli

And for the most part they have to be the same card, ati you can cross some diffrent cards, but not too many.

that's why I asked. i know that crossfire is ati stuff, but I've seen nvidia cards crossed on crossfire boards. I was wondering if that is possible in my case.

Nope not gonna happen. You could however dedicate one card to physx to lighten the load on the other card but not to many games use physx.

frown.gif so for physx, I pop in my 250, go to nvidia control panel on windows, then select my 9800gt as the physx card?

lolwut? No, they're both G92, but you can't SLI them. SLI has to have identical cards. The GTS250 is basically a rebadged 9800gtx+.

Fermi is GTX400 and 500 series.

the 2 series are fermi's

yeah the best you could do is use one for gfx and one for phyx.

If you are going to game, I would sell both and buy a better card.
