Help with overclocking my core 2 duo E8500

Hey guys im new to this forum and this kind of oc game i want abit of help with overclocking my E8500 CPU on my MSi G41m-P25 motherboard i know its not the best of mobos but ive got this cpu from 3.16Ghz to 3.24Ghz i got it to 3.25 last night but then pushed it abit more and it wouldent start up so it dropped to 3.16 and now i carnt even get it to 3.25 again what must i be doing wrong?

ive just got it from 3.24 to 3.26 but then when i pushed for 3.27Ghz it crashed ofc and now i carnt even get back to 3.26Ghz

Welcome! Perhaps you could take some time and fill in your PC specs? That might help for future reference.

The E8500 is quite a nice cpu to overclock and you shouldn't be seeing any problems getting it to 3.800 on stock voltages. Maybe your ram is holding you back.. but I can't tell because I can't see what ram you are running smile.gif
Also, further information on what multiplier you are using would also be handy.

ive got intel core 2 duo e8500
corsair DDR3 ram xms3 4 gb
h20 620 cpu watercooler
gtx 460
msi g41m-p25 motherboard

what else u need to know mate and thanks for helping me here

The only thing holding you back will be your motherboard. The g41 chipsets are pretty bad overclockers compared to the p45 chipset. Tell your exact bios settings and we can help!
