Its time for a new sound card but what to choose?

My absolute maximum budget is $20 i don't want to spend an arm and a leg for something that i wont get any benefit from (using low quality headphones)

I listen to hardcore style music check out scott brown wakey wakey on youtube

as for perks i really don't care as long as it works with BC2 and lets me listen to music then I'm happy.

I have a cheap headset and a creative Sound Blaster Audigy but its bugging out and people on team speak say i sound like a robot, like cutting out constantly and just overall poor voice quality i sound fine on onboard. Sometimes my sound stops working all together until i reboot the pc, But like i said it works fine on the onboard but it has a very noticeably high pitched squealing when i move my mouse or scroll down on a page on firefox.

I will be using this for everyday stuff and some hardcore gaming but nothing that requires hardware acceleration or any fancy features.

i live in Maine and the only PC related anything they sell is a geforce 6200 for $780 lol so online is my only option.

Are u using official Creative drivers? I dusted out an even more ancient SB Live! card and with Daniel_K drivers it rocks! biggrin.gif I would suggest experimenting with drivers as it's free and for the most part better than Creative ones thumb.gif
