3700+ with EB Platinums

Thread Starter
OK, I am having problems getting a good overclock with my PC. I have a DFI Lanparty Ultra-D..3700 Sandiego CPU and 2 x 1GB EB Platinum.
What I am thinking is that I possibly have some of the secondary timings.drive strength settings wrong in the bios for this combo. I am finding that this seems to be a particularily troublesome trio, and your help would be much appreciated. Up to date, my best OC is 260X10. It is prime stable and gives me a 31 seconds 1M superpi score.

What I am asking is if anyone else runs this 3some (dfi ultra-d/3700sandy/ocz eb PC4000 Plats)
and is gettings prime stable OC to 2700mhz+ if they could post there full memory timings and drive strengths here. This would be greatly appreciated, and thanks a bunch in advance!!

P.S. Please also let me know if your superpi score is 32 or better, cause I am able to get 2.7 stable, but only with my memory so slow that I get a 34-35 second pi run.

OK, sry. I guess I didnt make myself very clear.
I have been fighting with this CPU since I got it. (and learning lots)
My max cpu OC is 2.9GHZ (with my memory WAY down at 100mhz divider)
My Max HTT is 312
My Max ram that passes memcheck is 280

but I am not able to get a stable run when I push the CPU to anything over 2.7 with my memory over 200mhz. I have tried 9x 10X and 11X and I always get to the same speed...2700mhz. I have read that there are some issues with the sandy and the eb platinum PC4000s, and I was wondering if anyone else has had success with these specific components.

Thanks

well my kab2e stops at 2750mhz. or i think it does. tried 2800 but doesnt past prime so i stopped there. you have good ram, dont know y u running low frequency. do t2 and lower the timings and be at 200 or 166 mhz.

Sorry, no info on that spicific RAM/MB and if there is an issue with it or not.
IMHO it's either as you suspect or the Genie settings are the issue.

If I go to 2t and lower my mem speed WAY down,. I can get stable at say 2.7 or 2.75 and even get a pi run at 2.8, but because my memory is so slow at 2T on a divider that keeps the ram operating under 200mhz, then my pi speed is slower then when I run 260X10 @1:1 Thats why I was hoping that someone else with a 3700 Sandiego and Platinum EB PC4000 ram on a DFI lanparty could post there timings.

I can run 260FSBX10 at 1:1 mem speed, 9hrs+ prime stable with the following settings.(I stop prime with no errors)

Sounds like you've reached the limit of your CPU. There's a certain frequency all CPUs just can't run at.

Have you tried 10 vs the "8" it wont effect performance but may add stability.
Also... try those.
Row Cycle time (Trc) - 12 Bus Clocks
Row refresh cyc time (Trfc) - 24 Bus Clocks

You could try the adjustments with A64 tweeker and quick test in windoew with OCCT, then further test for stability with memtest. ncsa has a memtest quick quide from the below link...

Memtest:

For any change it is recommended that you use Memtest to check if this configuration is stable.

Some quick checks using this tool are:

Get your Memtest CD - make sure CD boot is prior to HDD in BIOS.

Boot system with CD in drive - Memtest should auto run and for 10-20 loops make sure that these key tests are OK – 5, 6, 8

Once running, to select Test #5
Type C 1 3 5 <enter> <enter>

Now Memtest will loop in Test #6

And for Test #6
Type C 1 3 6 <enter> <enter>

Now Memtest will loop in Test #8 (20 loops best)

And for Test #8
Type C 1 3 6 <enter> <enter>

If you get errors in any of these tests you will need to recheck you BIOS settings, timings and / or voltages. There is no silver bullet here as each system is different and will react & perform differently – time and patience is required

Above from...
http://www.overclock.net/faqs/38268-...roduction.html

below from me
Memory can be a very time consuming process, I hope his guide, the OCCT and all can help speed things up a bit, but as I sure you already know, a full memtest in the end for sure.

Hey, thanks. THats what Im looking for. I will try those settings as soon as I get home. I dont think I need much, as I was able to get up to 2704mhz 8hrs prime, but was still getting internet explorer crashes. Maybe those settings will be enough to push me over the edge. Thanks again for the ideas.
