how do you like your mobo, btw?

Interesting, might see if I can get a better overclock only using 2 DIMMs.

I love it, hasn't missed a beat in the year that I've owned it, and held my overclock completely stable for about 8 months. thumb.gif

The only thing I don't like is the lack of Sata 3!

I need to ask the same question but slightly different. Decided to finally get rid of all the bottlenecking I've been getting for the last year+ on the system currently in my profile. I'm in Aus and very close to Umart, so my choices are currently:

AMD Phenom II X6 1045 2.7GHz) - AM3, 9MB Cache,95W $125.00
AMD FX-4170 4-Core 4.2GHz 12MB Socket AM3+ 125W $139.00
AMD FX-6100 Six-Core 3.3GHz 14MB Socket AM3+ 95W $148.00

I'll be running 16GB 1600mhz CL9 Ripjaws. (4x4gb) on top of the new CPU and then a SSD in a few months time.

Or should I just really splash out and get the 8120 for $189.00

Is your processor unlocked, and if so, what is your OC

I couldn't run bf3 on my FX-4100 so i purchased a 1045T for $100. My 1045T at stock runs circles around my old fx-4100. All of my stuttering in bf3 went away. I currently have my 1045T OC'ed @ 3.51 and it is blazing. If i were you i would go with the only true 6-core out of all those options and pick up a 1045T. It is a great chance you can unlock the 960t to a 6-core but it is not given. So if i were you i would choose the 1045T. #justmy2cents thumb.gif

The Denen/Zosma/Thuban's are still great chips. I don't see the need to move on to the FX lines. For strictly gaming, you can't go wrong. A slight overclock to any Deneb processor will feed any single card setup. I can't remember what you said your uses/intentions are for the upgrade, but for gaming, I think you should stay away from the FX line.

Yeah unlocked to 3 cores. 4th core is unstable even with volt increase. I've OC'd up to 4.1ghz stable on this board however I'm running it only slightly above stock (i think 3.6ghz) 3 cores.

PS to the other comments only those chips listed there are available, I don't have access to purchase the 960 or anything else listed there apart from some Fusion chips which aren't worth mentioning. The only old chips left in stock are the 1045 and I dare say that if I don't pick that up very soon they will be out of stock of those as well.

G Skill 16G(4x4G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 RL 9-9-9-24(CL9Q-16GBXL) $109.00
AMD Phenom II X6 1045 2.7GHz) - AM3, 9MB Cache,95W $125.00
Total $234.00

Looks OK ?

After that I'd just need to focus on SSD's and a new single NVIDIA GPU.

edit: 16gb ram so I can run fraps, photoshop, encode video etc without much strain
