overclock the 2500K to 4.0 GHz (which should be a breeze and requires no overvolt) and you should be bottle-neck free in most recent titles.

Would I NEED to overclock the cpu? For now I'm trying to stay overclock-free. tongue.gif Maybe at least until i switch over to water cooling. I might just do the Turbo Feature that boosts it from 3.3 ghz to 3.7 ghz or so. I'm only 16 years old, This isn't my first time building a pc, but I've always stayed away from overclocking.

Oh and btw guys, this is the gtx 580 that I bought Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I think its a fairly good price, especially since I was looking for one with a back plate to make my build look cleaner.

I found a couple of 580's on ebay for around 300 actually. But the one i ended up buying was a superclocked edition and the seller also included a high flow bracket and a backplate. Maybe I overpaid but I will just have to see when the card comes in. From what everyone is saying, and from reading/ watching online, I think im going to be very happy with this card. Im also going to use the SLI 260's for a couple of things. Maybe I'll do some comparisons or benchmarks and post them up on the forums. Thanks everyone !!

2 x GTX260 ~ 1 x GTX295 ~ GTX480
GTX580 ~ 20% faster but much smother. Probably even more then that. A true upgrade would be GTX680 or wait for GTX670.

I got my 580 on eBay for $300 and it is the SC DS edition. It also has 860+ days of warranty based on serial. I'd say you way overpaid IMO.

Nah... Not worth upgrading to GTX580. 2 GTX 260s are just too good to upgrade unless they are dying on you.

Unless you are a hard core gamer and care about DX11, then go for GTX 680; otherwise, hold on to your GTX 260s.

Proud owner of GTX 260 core 216 that does 14K in 3dmark vantage.

I don't think you NEED to overclock your CPU, but considering what a breeze it is, its most definately worth it. The GTX 580 will definately be worth upgrading from the SLI 260's, enjoy man.

Overclocking isn't like the old days when we struggled not to fry our Pentium III katmai's to get that all important 600mhz. Overclocking with SB is a breeze and completely safe providing you have a 3rd party cooler, heck, any cooler is going to handle an 2500k up to 4ghz. You might not even need to adjust the voltage!. Take a look at the guide on here and go for it. Afterall, it IS overclock.net smile.gif

I still rock the 260 as well. Can't wait to get a 680 though.

You should notice a huge increase by going to the 580 though. I know I play bf3 on high with aa and all that stuff turned off at 35 to 45 frames. The 580 should handle ultra at 60+ frames easily depending on resolution.

i went from 3 260's to a 480 and everything is much smoother and runs better
